The Risley Branch, a PBX Hike

And crashing thru almost impassable thick brush and barbwire briars. Balancing on a slippery cedar log across a creek. Getting slapped in the face by a swinging branch and having the concern of being covered with ticks and 'chiggers' when there is a perfectly good road a few hundred feet away...

New trail map is aimed at reducing illegal traffic in Pinelands forest

I'm sure you all already know this; the map is for them so that if they catch some bikes off the trail exploring or "lost" it gives them reason to ticket and possibly impound the bikes. I believe there is a statement the trails are only to be used during an enduro and at no other time. I think...

Fall on the Atsion Burn --- A PBX Trip

I wonder if it has to do with where they are made now vs where they used to be made?

    Round Abouts

I know the 2 dirt roads you speak of well. Food shopping every week can be a pain, other types of shopping not so much. Semi-seclusion towns such as Bamber, like anything else, have their pros and cons. The secret is finding a compromise that you apparently have. You traded semi-privacy for ease...

    Round Abouts

I never would have thought. I used to work in Ocean Acres and would pass through that area 2x a day. It's been some years now; I don't work down there anymore but with all the building that was going on, the shopping centers and parkway I can imagine. There are 6 lights in that area now? I bet...

    Round Abouts

A sign of the times, population, and antiquated roads. Rt 9 is a good example. While a bit more than a mile and a half, go from Bayville to Beachwood. It's practically impossible to make a left-hand turn even with the lights crossing the road. I imagine you're talking about Rt 72 in front of the...

Illegal off-road vehicles continue to tear up N.J. forests. Advocates push for crackdown.

I'm tired of how dirt bikes are always blamed. Unfortunately, I've seen a few in swampy areas now and again so I can't say bikes never go there. Two wheels don't do well in these areas, that's reserved for vehicles with 3 or more wheels along with doughnuts on the roads although a bike can do...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

Thanks, Boyd, somehow, I missed the rest of that thread otherwise I would have known. I wasn't aware it was Parkers. I thought it was part of Brick Wall unless Brick Wall is owned by Parker.

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

TommyP I've seen somebody use the word "Funtown" before and ask where that is. I don't remember seeing a reply. With that can you say what area is this "Funtown"?

Police investigating fatal crash in Burlington County (On 532 Near Apple Pie Hill)

I wasn't aware cameras were banned in NJ, although I won't say that's a bad thing.

Police investigating fatal crash in Burlington County (On 532 Near Apple Pie Hill)

I read and understood what was said. It still may not change anything if racing is what they are doing. It may get someone's attention if they are just daydreaming. I'm NOT saying it will happen, just a thought. However, if they were to place speed cameras.

Police investigating fatal crash in Burlington County (On 532 Near Apple Pie Hill)

I can't help but think that since the radar signs have no direct law enforcement if racing is what they're doing these radar signs will only serve to display the actual speed at the end of the run similar to that at the end of a racetrack.

    Where is this?

I'd say near a sand plant, but which one.....? Is that a stake of some sort behind the rocks?

DEP determined to resolve pinelands access disputes

To those that are saying they would gladly pay a permit fee if used for more enforcement. That's not practicable, just do the simple math. Most are saying hire more officers, that's nice but where is the money coming from, the permit fee? Not likely. I haven't done any research so only guessing...

Okay, having a picnic is cool and all....but in the middle of a pine trail?! LOL!

Any guess to the type of beer or other beverage? The one cap in the back looks suspicious and the content level is lower than the other 2. I wonder what the sheet of paper on the lower shelf is about? The jars do have a sticker on them.

Realtor.com adds wildfire risk to listings

I agree with Bob but the emphasis is on certain buyers. The same goes for coastal flooding. After superstorm Sandy, some moved away, some rebuilt but there was/is a waiting line of new buyers. Insurance makes it easy anymore where common sense if there's any around, is tossed aside.

    I have no words.

There is more to it and it has been a topic of discussion here in the past. The Chatsworth Park was an experiment and a success but the opposition, not the State killed it and other places that were purchased. There is a park in South Jersey that never opened. The State has placed so many...

Calico and Nash’s Cabin / Apple Pie Hill Tower

With forest fire season mainly from now to the end of May, the towers are usually manned. However, when you hear on the news there is an extreme fire danger you can be sure they are manned.

Things you find while driving around....

This is what I was told, but they are all over the woods everywhere, not just in one particular area. After the sap runs and dries, they are usually painted blue, but I have seen yellow, white, red, and green but blue seems to be the preferred color. We determined that one slash is the run, 2...
