    Bass River Fire Tower proposal

I think you have totally missed my point. We, the taxpayers should NOT have paid anything!

    Bass River Fire Tower proposal

It's a done deal. We, the public failed to monitor and question/protest the "deal". This was expected and in fact, depended on. They know we all have busy lives and can't afford the time to attend meetings and amass a huge public protest. On another note, but applies. How many of you have read...

    Bass River Fire Tower proposal

Yes, that was the quote. So now that the FFS didn't do that, you're saying the park service is saying "now what?" Yes, I agree. Again too late now, wasn't one of the arguments from the FFS that the trees were originally planted by the CCC as a make-work program with the intention to latter by...

    Bass River Fire Tower proposal

I brought this up earlier in this thread. Nothing we can do about it except grumble. It seems that whenever a government entity, federal, state, county, township is involved money is wasted. This is no exception. Harvesting companies pay to harvest the lumber and their profit is in selling the...

    Lacey Materials Burned

Thanks. I'm assuming there are future plans, otherwise, why go through the trouble and expense? You say the mountain access road is now marked as a trail? What is to prevent folks from driving to the top as they have in the past? Did they clean up the ashes from the bonfires? I have seen things...

    Lacey Materials Burned

I haven't been past LM's in quite a while. Is the entrance on Lacey rd now open? Is there a marked or graded road from the entrance through the pit to the road in the back? I'm speculating they will grade and improve the entire road to Jones road and maybe Jones road to rt 532, it certainly...

Pooping prohibited in Wharton State Forest

And leave a note, "Now look what you made me do" How do you like me now? Albert H must be highly upset! I guess he "goes" inside of his car now, or carries a pooper scooper and a brown paper bag.

    Fall/Winter Stone Searching 2019/2020

A bit off subject, does anyone know what this road network is/was supposed to be? https://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.908794842906204&lng=-74.27117408526995&z=16&type=hybrid&gpx=

Annual forest fire mitigation program is underway in N.J.

I used to get notification automatically, I haven't lately. Did they stop notification and now you have to go to their FB site?

Guest Opinion: Devise a user-friendly vision for the Pinelands (Albert Horner)

Consider the source, a nature photographer that adores the natural beauty of nature but advocates for more roads and trails, outhouses, picnic areas, and street signs! What am I missing here?

ATV riders taunted cops who busted huge, rowdy Pinelands party. That didn’t end well for them.

I'm sure not everyone was but it was stated most were from Philly and Camden. They are most likely the city street pack street riders taunting police. Why wouldn't they taunt police if in the woods? I'm sure some of not most are stolen so no loss to them. Others are drug selling/escape vehicles...

    Mopar In The Pines

Not lately but I have been through that intersection many times on all the roads and I never noticed them, but I wasn't looking. Can they be seen from the road, especially now, winter? If so I'm surprised they haven't been removed a long time ago.

So, it's costing taxpayers $17k to cut trees that were originally planted to harvest for lumber. That usually means a bid to buy from a lumber company not charge the landowner to cut. Only in NJ. Does anyone know if the harvest company is keeping any of the lumber grade trees for profit? Strange...

    What is this?

Interesting. I see small ones now and again but never took the time to investigate. Now I know what they are. Thanks for posting Zach and Bob.

    Cold pizza

Yes, Bob and the associated semi-clear areas. 46er, I understand right hand folks [rep] tend to wander to the right while left hand folks [dem] wander to the left, but this is a straight line clearing. I think there is more to the story than was published. So, has anyone explored this...

    FFS

I suspect his remains will never be found after the intense search with dogs came up empty. The area to be burned is mostly dry except for the area where the sand road makes a 90 degree turn around the FAA property and this is where I think he was hunting. That is private property in that corner...
