    Metes and Bounds

Guy Were there other blazes? Usually painted after blazing, hunters mark drive lines for deer hunting. Blue seems to be the "latest" color but I have seen old blazes of white, red, green, and yellow. A single blaze is just marking the line, 3 blazes seem to denote the start or end. I have seen...

    Metes and Bounds

Property lines are somewhat permanent or established. I'm surprised that non-permanent objects are used for reference points. I understand the stones that Guy finds. I understand the concrete monuments used today. I've seen pipes driven in the ground. When the temporary landmarks are long gone...

Webbs Mill flooded by beaver again?

Don't take this wrong but as originally stated I don't care one way or the other. In fact, now that I know this is not a "natural" area but man-made I am less enthused. However, that being said I am not against possibly helping out for a day if all the stars align. As for disposing of the...

Webbs Mill flooded by beaver again?

Thank you both. I came back to edit my post because I didn't mean it to be inflammatory which I later thought would be taken. I wasn't aware that the bog is not "natural" but man-made. I see 2 solutions to the problem flooding which appears to be a long ongoing issue. 1- Start a petition to...

Webbs Mill flooded by beaver again?

Not meaning to be argumentative [but most likely will be seen as such] just referring back to a previous comment of mine. You did address the forest fires I was going to bring up. Aren't beavers part of nature? Nature like the rest of the world is in a constant state of flux meaning nothing...

Webbs Mill flooded by beaver again?

I don't care one way or the other, just asking a question and a comment. Would this area even exist to the extent it is if the road in question never existed? If so keep in mind swamps naturally fill in, dry out without human interference, and the ecosystem changes. I do realize the opposite is...

    Morning Glory

Why is it that those that are so protective of the pines have no issue to chainsaw the trees they claim to be protecting? From your picture, the trail appears quite wide and well-groomed, far more than just a walking trail. Is it possible they used quads because they didn't want to walk? You...

I was going to mention that but decided to wait. Check your homeowners insurance if the cost of the electrician is covered.

    Bulltown Bogs

I don't know if water spray was deployed into the wind stream or not but your picture is of the engine panel which shows the amps the generator is putting out to charge the starting battery, the water temp inside the engine and radiator and a warning light if the oil pressure falls low.

The wind turbine is an interesting idea. It's amazing how fast nature is reclaiming in just 13 years. I would have guessed at least 20 by the height of the vegetation.

Bob You're showing your age. We like to think so, but were we any different at that age? We knew everything too. Boyd You hate Android, is Apple any better? really? As mentioned nothing is ever free and yes there are things we pay for the privilege to be spied on.

    Road Closure

"officially established road" The FFS when establishing firebreaks often terminate them onto newly established roads so the equipment can access or is waiting. The FFS is an official entity. The moment a road is made it's established, no? So I interpret this as an officially established road, no?

Same here, always block junk thinking that eventually, it will run out, HA, wishful thinking. I continue getting the same junk but with a different web address. The addresses are computer-generated often from the same company and they're limitless. Sometimes it's from a different spam company...

More Changes at Forked River Mountain

As for a hot fire, I agree. I guess they had to burn when they could. They may burn again in a year or so. The FFS did a burn just before 3/15 on Beaver Dam rd in Warren Grove. That fire was hot, so hot it became a crown fire. It looks exactly like the Spring Hill fire. I don't think you can...

More Changes at Forked River Mountain

Wow, Bob. really? I haven't been down Lacey rd for some time. I know they burned along Lacey rd and had the road closed. So now there are multiple fire cuts all along Lacey rd extending to approximately your picture? They are huge and long. Find anything interesting? They really are carving up...

More Changes at Forked River Mountain

I don't think that has anything to do do with the county, but the FFS. I'm sure they [FFS] asked the county for permission. The FFS did the same in Warren Grove a couple of years ago to Red rd [Stephenson] and Beaver Dam rd. It's a type of firebreak in the event of a forest fire. After the...
