    Where is this?

That Subaru makes me want to cry. It looks like a brand new one, maybe even a 2015! :(

    Where is this?

Haha, it certainly does! I think it was a 12 gauge?

    Where is this?

My one and only experience shooting clay pigeons was there. I didn't do too badly as I recall.

    Ticks explode

The sooner you remove the tick, the better. I strongly advise against waiting for the tick to detach. Swabbing it with permethrin basically causes every nerve to fire, so your chances of getting it to secrete more saliva into the bite are also there. Grab it with tweezers or your fingers as...

    Ticks explode

I think vigilance is the most important thing here, and it sounds like you have it covered. Any ticks you find should be removed immediately. Resistance to pyrethroids (including permethrin) has been documented in tick species associated with cattle since it's a really commonly used insecticide...

    Ticks explode

The adult deer ticks will be around in the fall when things are cooler. Now is the time of year for the nymphs (at least until it gets hot), which are much harder to spot and usually bite mice and other small mammals. Repellents are so tricky. Permethrin should prevent ticks from biting but...

    Ticks explode

The spot on products have always been about the same price since the inception of the first one, Frontline. If you break it down month to month, they are about $10-$12 a month depending on which size you buy. There are cheaper over the counter products that contain pyrethroids as their main...

    Ticks explode

If you have dogs and cats, I highly recommend the Seresto collar for them. They last 8 months and are very good at preventing tick attachment. They also seem to prevent midge and mosquito bites, although they are not labeled for that. Since they are so good with ticks, they should also work...

    New drone video

We have the same rig, and Whitesbog is the first place in the Pines we are planning to go next time we are in the area. Whitesbog in October is just magical.

    Powassan

Preventic collars work great for ticks. Or there are monthly treats you can give your dogs (NexGard or Bravecto) that are very effective against black-legged ticks.

    Yet another tick born...

Scary stuff. Tick checks are great, but make sure your dogs AND cats are all treated, too. There are a lot of black legged ticks in NJ this time of year.

FAA proposes to allow commercial drone use

Fantastic! What kind of drone are you flying? We have a Phantom 2 with a GoPro camera.

FAA proposes to allow commercial drone use

It is specifically banned in Michigan, so I am guessing you will probably get your wish.

FAA proposes to allow commercial drone use

The no fly zones are unreasonably large. We are not allowed to fly at all in the city of Kalamazoo, for instance. There are some things we'd like to get aerial shots of, but we aren't allowed. Drones are not typically flown high enough to interfere with aircraft unless you are right next to an...

FAA proposes to allow commercial drone use

Thanks for the suggestion, I am not sure if the creek is open enough to follow, but we'll have a look on the map. I think it will be a while (or forever) until we can set the thing free and not watch it verrrrry carefully though. We have to follow it. At this point we need to keep in our line of...

FAA proposes to allow commercial drone use

No, still living in Michigan, but we go back and are currently very overdue for a pines day or two. No worries! We are pretty sensitive to wildlife--I don't want to a) upset any people or animals, or b) kill any bird that's defending its territory by prop strike! Gah. That would suck.
