    Amatol reports and mapping

I just asked Joe, he doesn't know any more than that. We guessed that it was set up to house some sort of conveyor to move things from building to building. The buildings would have had to have been a certain distance apart to keep a chain reaction from happening should someone try to light a...

    Amatol reports and mapping

We guessed that this was some sort of transport system for delicate explosives. I think my husband actually knows a lot more about this than me, but I think we figured they had some sort of trolley system. Jiggling nitroglycerine too much might cause you to have a bad day.

    Fleas, Ticks, Skeeters and Dogs

I am sorry to hear they won't help you out because of your purchase from a vet med internet retailer. That's a hot button with vets and with companies that make this stuff because neither has any control over how it's handled. They may have been kept in poor storage conditions, remote a...

    Fleas, Ticks, Skeeters and Dogs

Sorry about your pup's heartworm. Were you able to treat the dog with immiticide? It's hard to come by these days. Did you or your veterinarian report it to Novartis? They should pay for your dog's heartworm treatment if it's found to be a failure and they will certainly want to know about it...

How Much Does A Rattlesnake Bite Cost?

I bet the exhorbitant cost is largely due to the antivenin, it apparently costs thousands per dose. That guy was a dipshit.

Help me ID this device from a barn in PA

I agree, I think could for hanging carcasses. Pigs or lambs maybe? Definitely not to lift saddles from horses, they're not that heavy.

    Popcorn Park Zoo

Great photos! I love that zoo. If nothing else, it's a good demonstration of why white tailed deer do not make good pets! They can be really tame, but they never stop licking you, ever. Ever. (do they still have them walking around the main area?) I used to go there every year to shear their...

thanks for that link, 46er. That does make me feel better. The Shabakunk creek is what I have been worried about and it looks like it went up about 12". That's not too bad. Even if the pump quit, I don't think we'd get any water. Phew.

Oh, and allow me to add that the mosquitoes out here are flying pit bulls. I have never in my life. :jeffd: Fortunately, the bats will move in a few weeks from now, we are told.

Amazing. Our 1200 sf 2 br, 1 bath cape with 0.2 acres in a semi not-so-great neighborhood in NJ had a $6000 tax bill. Our present, fairly magnificent 3000 SF house with 5+ acres in solitude has a $2300 tax bill. But the car insurance here is higher. Not sure why. Weird, eh?

This is what bothers me about this market. People assume that because it's in the grocery store, it's safer than what you can get at the vet's. Let me assure you, NOTHING is further from the truth. Modern chemistry is far more insect specific than the old pyrethroids they sell in the pet food...

    Tick&Fleas

So far, we haven't found any chiggers yet, but it's still cool out. I did get a tick bite but I think the culprit was one of my research subjects. The ecology of this area is similar to the pines--acid swamps, sandy soil and peat bogs, so I totally expect that to happen. And oh my goodness yes...

It's in Ewing, next to Trenton. Yeah, it's in a flood zone because of its place in the water table. We have a sump pump, so I am hoping the electricity stays on and the pump works. We didn't have the pump when we moved in and found out what it's like when it floods. NOT good.

Yeah, you'd think. Our realtor is pretty much useless in that regard though. I'd fire him but I can't, he was appointed by my company. So I have to rely on friends to look for me. I haven't been able to get anyone over there yet, so I still don't know.

How much torture is this?! I have a house that floods that I am trying to sell, and I now live 800 miles from that house so I cannot be there to make sure the sump pump is working. If the power goes out, I am screwed. Can someone just buy my house? Please? Anyone? Hellloooooo?

HELP Needed Listing ALL NJ Pine Barrens Species

Excellent suggestion. I'd be willing to bet they are among the most numerous species in the pines. :ninja:
