    Overkill for the Pines

Yes, pretty much a onroad tractor. I bet a new Unimog with a camper on it would have a higher value than my house! It sure would make a sweet beach buggy for IBSP. I looked at a late 50's French Unimog last year that was for sale, even though it needed a boat load of work, the asking price was...

    Islands in the Pines

Very nice, Al. I love the the island areas through out the pines. I have some nice islands close to my house in Crossley. You are getting good with the camera! Very nice set of pictures! Chris

    Overkill for the Pines

Looks to be built plenty stout! Not a big fan of the 6 axle look, I bet it is hard to stop though with all 6 axles locked! I am a fan of the Unimog. If my bank account allowed it, I would have a Unimog for running the pines as opposed to a beat up Silverado. Chris

    Peacock in the Pines

I have yet to see a Peacock in the Pines, but I have heard the call of the male off in the distance while in the woods.

    Insect nest?

Definitely not Bagworm. Gibby hit the nail on the head. It looks like a old Luna Moth cocoon. Chris

Very nice Sarah! I like the cedar picture best. I am also dreaming of warmer days! It is nice to see that you are still into photography, and the Pine Barrens!

    Turkey

This is about the time of the year you will start hearing the Toms gobble in the morning. The mating season is not far away.

    The NEW Beer Thread

I have had Yuengling as far north as Vermont and as far south as Florida in the past couple of years. I do remember though when it was hard to find Yuengling outside of the Delaware Valley. Some years back I once asked for a Yuengling in a bar in Vermont and the answer I recieved was, "sorry, we...

    Bald Eagle Spotted

I saw one last fall near Wells Mill. I know there used to be a nesting pair in the cell tower by the old Denny's in Bricktown. I am not sure if they are still using the nest. Manasquan WMA and Manasquan Reservoir are a couple of good spots to go watch for Bald Eagles. I have seen them at both...

    Turkey

That is cool! I wish I could listen to them from my house. I love listening to them gobble! My favorite part of turkey hunting is calling the Tom in and having the gobbles get progressively closer until he is so close you can also hear him drumming. More times than not, the Tom will give you the...

    Turkey

Boyd, you have some nice turkey on your land. A couple of nice long beards in that flock. Do you hear a lot of gobbling around your house in the spring? Chris

    Turkey

No shortage of turkey south of 539 in Greenwood. The past two turkey seasons I have only had one morning with out any turkey responding back to my calling south of 539. Chris

    Turkey

Turkey are coming into their breeding season. The Toms can get aggressive at this time of the year. I have had this happen to me once while I working in Jackson, a Tom came out into the road in front of me and was gobbling, strutting back and forth, and attacking the front of the van. I had a...

Bass River Headwaters Area ... A PBX Hike

It was a great hike despite the inclimate weather. The Bass River watershed is a wonderful area! The tailgate's are never less than the best! Gabe, Jeff, and Paul in the area of Bass River that burned a few years ago. A long forgotten two tracker deep in Bass River. Moss and Cedar...

    Superbowl Pre-Game In the Pines

Cool, that's good to hear! One of our vans at work was driven through some "minor" flooding and the ECM got wet. The van made it back to the shop running, but with a miss. The ECM had to be changed, a quick and fairly cheap fix. I have owned two Cherokee's with the straight 6 in both of them...

    Superbowl Pre-Game In the Pines

Oh man! You all brought the Jeep swimming. It is never good when you could use a bilge pump in the interior. I hope the ECM is not on the floor under the driver's seat like a Chevy. Hopefully once it is dry it will be fine. I used a vacation day yesterday and just kicked around the woods in my...

    Saving a 300-year-old tree

That is a shame! I hope all can come to a solution other than cutting it down. Bob, you don't see many large beech trees down this way. It a shame that tree was replaced by asphalt. Here is a large beech for you Bob. This tree is in Rumson on a customers property. A lot of nice large trees...

    Chasing turkey vultures

Today in Jackson I saw the largest wake of vultures I have ever seen! It must have been 100 vultures! At first from a distance I thought it was a large flock of turkey because all of the birds were on the ground. As I got closer I relized all the birds were vultures. All the vultures were in a...
