    Franklin Parker Preserve

I was aware of this, I should have worded myself different. I do not think she is looking for farm raised venison. Free venison should not be hard to find. Chris

    Franklin Parker Preserve

That has to be an extremely low number of hunters. I wouldn't even lump them up with hunters. Just idiots going in the woods with guns. I grew up in a hunting culture and still live in it. I have yet to meet a hunter that drinks alcohol while hunting. You can ask if someone will give you some...

    Dble Trouble SP cranberry harvest

PineyPower Facebook page posted today that the farmer that is maintaing the cranberry bogs at Double Trouble is flooding the bogs and moving the equipment in as of now. If they have enough water in the bogs they will start to harvest tomorrow, otherwise they will start on Sunday. Chris

Question on "Clearings" in the Pines

The Eureka ruins are in the clearing you pass through just before Black's Bridge. The fields were created by the state to improve wildlife habitat. Nice areas for deer and turkey to feed. The fields are part of Greenwood WMA. The building is a hunting club, not sure what the club name is...

Ocean County Gunning Show This Weekend

Did you make it, Scott? Russ, Russ Jr, and I went Saturday morning. We were keeping an eye open for you. It seemed smaller this year with nothing going on at the high school. Chris

    Another year

Happy birthday! What a great way to spend your birthday every year! It's always nice when the fish cooperate! Like Ben said, use Flickr. Super simple. I have not used the gallery to post photos in awhile. Let's see some pictures! Chris

Tribute to a Foxhunter: Pomeroy Crossroads

I have seen many Grey fox in the pines over the past 25 years, I have seen very few Reds. At one location I have a treestand for deer I have a Grey that will come around often. I love to watch him. He moves through the woods like a ghost. I have never seen a Grey on the properties I hunt in...

    The Last True Piney

I have seen Bill in the woods a handful of times. I have seen him working in his yard many times. I have always had the urge to stop and talk to him but just figured he would rather be left alone. I do need to buy a couple cords of firewood in the next couple of weeks. That would be a good...

Tribute to a Foxhunter: Pomeroy Crossroads

I know Topsy Taylor's grandson from another forum. He informed me that Harry Irons past away sometime ago. He also said the Snuffy was not doing well and is bedridden. This was about a year ago. When I was just of driving age in the late 80's and I really started to discover a larger part of...

    Visiting old haunts with Pan

Nice! That must be a great feeling for larry coming back to rediscover the pines! Also, with you for a guide makes it even better! I like the Philly skyline picture. With not being a big fan of heights, I have never been to the top of the tower. What a view! Chris

    Paddling the Skit

Oh man! Gabe! Is this the paddle you contacted me about on Friday? I would have put off the opening day of archery deer season for this trip! It looks like you all had a nice trip! That is some beautiful country! Great report and pictures, Ed. Thank you. Chris

    Rails At Double Trouble

Thats pretty cool, Tom! On the front lawn of the Berkeley Township Historical Society there is a section of the track, which I am pretty sure is from the light rail at Double Trouble. They have a small cart on the track. It looks like the cart in your picture just behind the engine, minus the...

NJ has one of the lowest obesity rates

I don't know about that chart. I am 5' 10" and was 250 pounds. I was overweight for sure with a pretty big belly and chipmunk cheeks! I changed many habits in my life and got down to 178 pounds. When I was at 178 pounds I had had people ask me if I was sick. I am at 195 pounds now and you...

Menantico Ponds Walk -Saturday, August 27, 2011

Nice! Sounds like a good trip! I have wanted to fish it for a long time but never have. I know the state record largemouth was caught there, but always wondered how the fishing was in general. The striped bass, was it a hybrid or a true fresh water striper? The hybrid looks like a white perch...

    South Jersey

I have to disagree with that! The whole time I thought I lived in South Jersey. We do have a mix of Philly and New York influence, but I would never consider it North Jersey. I was once told that everything north of the A.C. Expressway is North Jersey. Ben, I like the way you break it down and...

The Mullica, Atsion to Pleasant Mills. A PBX paddle.

You thought correctly!:) We could have made better time. We stopped a couple of times to explore a little, a couple of breaks to swim, a couple of breaks to stretch, we stopped for lunch. Not a bad had to do. Chris

Thank you, and your welcome. Not bad, I used my phone for pictures all day. I left my camera in my dry pack all day. I get rave reviews on the sandwiches from everyone that has eaten them. That bright spot does burn your eyes when you look at the picture. Chris
