    Military Fox Hole

I was going by the topo lines, or abscense of them. They are 10 feet, and there is only a 30 and a 40 in the neighborhood. 1953 Atsion Quad.

    Military Fox Hole

This topo says the same. I think, really, that the upland here is only 10 feet higher in elevation than the stream. And this is a dune.

    Military Fox Hole

You are thinking of aggregate John. I don't like that idea, that small a hole way the hell out there (as Fred Brown would say it) is not commercially feasible, and in this case, they didn't get much. I'd say aggregate is readily available at any of the sand mines as a by product of digging for...

    Military Fox Hole

That is an interesting supposition Watson. I'm going to field test it. Thing is, I only see two very narrow trails up to the spot. That may be motorcyclists going up to see what it is (time and time again, maybe?).

    Military Fox Hole

Somebody told me about the sand mines....they would scoop out an area about 40' long and eventually 6' deep to see if the sand was worth mining. I saw a lot of that in Lacey township.

    Military Fox Hole

It definitely has a slope, and is about 30' to 40' in diameter. But seems to be only 2(?) feet deep.

    Military Fox Hole

This is very odd, way out in the Big Swamp (kinda) area East of West Mills Road. I can't see how/why man would have made this. Something to visit. Any ideas?

Double your fun with map sync!

That is really handy Boyd, the way you put the cross marker in and that's it's red colored. Was just comparing the 1930 with 2020, and this reduces the location doubt considerably.

    Hampton upper forge?

Interesting. But I don't see how you can determine a flat spot from that early map. Edit: oh, you found the flat spot in person and then marked it on the map.

I knew it would be you. I'm going to call you bulldog Ron. Tell us how you did it.

    Mystery Rock Pile

So, neither of those two had ever been there, but have been researching it? Do you have a comment on that?

This reef shark is missing a fin or two. Rough out there in the heavy surf. Where is it?

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

Where you call for barricading areas where people have gone to the sandy areas along the Mullica on the SE side -- that could be alleviated differently with signs indicating day use only, no over nighters and no parking closer than 100 feet from the river, or some such. But look, I understand...

What about this sw of Atsion Lake? Who are you blaming here, the DEP? That's not a cool way to make a statement. What are you saying to them; close the area to vehicles? DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I have your map open on Google Earth. I see you've already capitulated on West Mill Road. The battle over opening that road is ongoing. My stance is; force Hammonton somehow to open that gate. We want to drive on that road.

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I can't see much of the southern part, but the northern part looks like existing major roads. Likely not that big of a deal. But I reserve comment until I see a detailed map.

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I have no problem creating conditions and rules for large groups over, say, 30 vehicles, but even so, they will be on roads. Closing roads to locals BECAUSE of usage by large groups is not right. It's not just the permit, which I said before I was not totally against, but all the signals from...

Yeah, that was fenced in too. I think it was one of these. Many there.

    Where is this?

I thought of that spot Tom, but I dismissed it since I did not see a lot of growth. I may have missed an aerial. Says it was an old bog. Not sure if true.
