DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I did some of the survey work. I did 32 ponds, and I see he highlights one of them with photos. Important to note that only a small percentage of the total (<3%) were in parks and forestry. There is not a single member of this web site who likes to see damage to any of these ponds, and I dare...

    The rectangular thing

Oh, I see it now, yes. The 1930 one is off.

    The rectangular thing

I think it was something, there are also square ones in the 1931. But by 1940 on Historical Aerials, the rectangular one is gone.

    The rectangular thing

It could be, there's considerable slope compared to the rest of the shoreline.

    The rectangular thing

That's what I was pointing out, another on the stream, but yet, if you run through Boyd's aerials with the same spot held there, the creek shifted 50 feet.

    The rectangular thing

Or maybe it drifted there on one of the big flooding events which apparently happen there.

    The rectangular thing

I looked on Historical Aerials. Not there in 2002, but is there in 2006, and no trails to it.

    The rectangular thing

One from 1930, really lost by time. Have to wonder what happened to that river.

    The rectangular thing

Nice! I find it hard to believe they put one there. Have to see what way they were going in.

    The rectangular thing

There is this thing, somewhat reflective of light, and rectangular. It keeps showing up on some aerials way out there in that area. First thought was a duck blind, but it seems so very inaccessable. Odd.

    Military Fox Hole

Hey, I'm kinda scared now, there's a giant spider out there waiting.

    Military Fox Hole

Okay Gabe, I'll let you know Friday afternoon. I am sometimes lucky to see the grandkids on the weekend, and so I'll be monitoring that.

Whoops, decided I should not risk opening the large infected cyst on my back, plus I start a course of Doxicycline for it in the morning. I've never had that antibiotic, so unsure if my stomach will not revolt. Maybe next week if the weather is good and the water is not over my knees.

    Military Fox Hole

I need to get out of the house, so tomorrow's a good day to see what I can see there. Just something tangible to do. I plan to be over there near Rockwood around noon if anybody wants to join me.

    Fries Mill

I think Al might of taken us to that spot (or what he tought was) on the Manumuskin. Upstream from the railroad on the west side of the creek. I wonder if Daniel Heisler's family started Heislerville.

By the way, that was 2007, by 2020 it was just a memory.

    Military Fox Hole

How about this happy roadster just to the Northeast. Do you think, when he got out there in sedge land, his sphincter tightened up and he made a hasty retreat? One of two reasons he did an about face: 1) he suddenly got into an area that even he recognized is special and pristine, or 2) he was...

    Military Fox Hole

Yes, I think the 1949 is too monotypic (for lack of a better word) for that area. It is mixed in there. Undulating.

Gabe, this 2020 aerial gives credence to your theory. A straight line blockage at the crossing. Odd that an elevation change is not shown on any of the lidars.
