these boots did great. over 1000 miles with a pack, is unheard of for boots. down to -5 degrees and up to 90. i don't know what to say. nobody on the trail got these miles out of a pair of boots. wearing them right now. :) but boot are a PERSONAL thing, what works for you, may not work for others,

new balance has a couple of high boots. i have the NB1201. too date i have 1100 miles on them. they are gor-tex so they will not dry over nite, but if you are not doing long distace it doesn't mater. if you are not in snow or mud consider trail runners.

if you find a chigger bite, the bug is gone. they eat your skin not your blood. wiping down with ammonia helps draw out poison. Calamine lotion can help with itch. i know first hand (or foot)
