ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I've heard that several times too. I find it hard to believe free money was turned down for no reason. There is more to it then that. Money is never free. If the federal government is handing out any money there are definitely rules that apply. Until any concrete details emerge I'll treat them...

What mammal would dig up sand over and over?

I was thinking possibly pigs too. I do know there are populations out there but I think most aren't in the pines.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

The whole "this is what we are doing and we don't have to explain ourselves" attitude is frustrating to say the least. What little I see on face book seems ridiculous on both sides. All of these lies and half truths are crazy. They say exceptions will be made for people with disabilities but...

    What is this place?

It was speculated that they broke their antenna plowing through the woods. I think they even mentioned it in the video. I was also led to believe they never anchored their starting point. Basically operating with one tire in the black and got too far down on the flank. So they had green woods in...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

There absolutely is a problem. Driving in any pool or lowland has never been legal so I'm not sure how saying its illegal, again, and posting a sign is going to make a difference. Many people that go off-road can honestly say they don't do anything wrong. While this may be true many of them will...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Ok, I posted these pictures not to place blame but just to prove a point. With that said many of the tracks seemed to target the sign and take it out, but that's not the point. I went on Facebook today and saw sweeping generalizations on both sides. It seems it's a for or against arguement. I'm...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

This is one of the spots I stopped at. Saturday I took a broom to the road just behind this sign on Saturday morning. This is taken Sunday at 4:00. The puddle is just behind this sign. You can't even tell where I cleared. This is a spot clearly marked and stopped nobody but me. How is closing...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

We saw a lot of people out there too. My wife asked if I thought it was because of everything that was going on. I didn't think it was, I think it was just a great weekend to be outside. It would have been nicer if I didnt have my agenda but it was still a great weekend.

    What is this place?

I think is skipped forward to the Dude Fire in Arizona. The Bass River fire of 77 was one that changed the way fairground communications were handled so everyone was operating on the same frequency. It's crazy to think it wasn't always the case prior.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Ok, I spent the weekend exploring. Yesterday morning I went to several locations that are now posted and no motor vehicles. Just on the other side of each I wiped away any tracks with a broom. I went back this afternoon I retraced my steps. In 2 locations there was at least one set of tracks...

Belligerent...I don't think so. Defiant...absolutely, that's the definition of not agreeing. Making threats.....isn't that what you're doing in your post. Invite your 8 million friends to enjoy the pines. Let's see what happens then. The answer doesn't lie on either side but somewhere in the...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

There is a very similar beach a mile or two upstream just past Goshen pond. It did not get the same treatment with the signs and sticks. The only thing different is its not an area used by Pineland Adventures, which is in its first year of operations. It makes one wonder the true intentions of...

    What is this place?

I was just curious. I know in 1936 there was a burnover in Chatsworth and Bass River. And in 1977 bass River again I vaguely remember that one as I was pretty young. I thought there was another in the 50's but I can't find it now.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Could you please tell me how this new plan is going to help stop this. Other then limiting the law abiding people and reducing the chance of of them getting reported. I spent the day yesterday inspecting those plastic signs. At at least two locations there are tracks going in or out right over...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

That was never a road. And was never legal and I don't condone it. It is also 1/2 a mile from the ranger station off a highly traveled road and yet they still got away with it. If you think a few plastic signs and a map is going to stop them you're crazy.
