    What is this place?

I was not aware of any firefighters killed in that area.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I did look a little closer. It is simply gravel. I'm not a geologist nor do I try to be. It is a little darker then what I usually see but that is probably simply because it was just dug up.

Your lack of sympathy for people who are losing a right that has been in place for over a half a century simply boggles my mind.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

A sad day today. I took a long drive today with my son. Sandy Causeway looks horrible. I did go down a road that is supposed to be closed but I did so only because I noticed work had been done to it. I followed the improved road and eventually got to another road that is supposed to be open...

I was just on the PPA's Facebook page. They have posted pictures showing the "devastation". None of them are roads. A freshly burnt Jemima Mount. That's been closed off for years and yet vehicles still drive up it. I pile of tv's? This new map will surely stop somebody from dumping.:rolleyes...

FYI, when I got home today it was blowing out of the East. I noticed since it's not the norm.

I know. It's just an area I'm familiar with. You wouldn't want to use that picture in a presentation on keeping the roads open.;)

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I agree with this closure. There is a devistated vernal pool back there. Just like 1/4 mile it was accessible after a fire line went right to it. It was never meant to be a road

You have a good soul, Guy. If I where in your shoes I'm not sure what I would do. I can tell you have personal ties on either side. Both sides have very good people that want the best for the pines. Most of us fall in the middle on this and aren't really that far apart. I agree closures are...

Yes I agree. That could be any one of us. He went through no different then I would. But I m not preaching against it. That video is no different then some of the videos on his blog. It's the idea that he is doing nothing wrong but everyone else is, is exactly what is at issue here. Most of us...

No it's really the PPA method of determining a vernal pool. I wouldn't have realized it without 46er

As much as I would have liked that he would have blamed illegal ORV use for rutting it out.;)

The only thing that could make that any better is if that was 1/4 mile.

    Quarter Mile Revisited

I hope you're prepared to pick up more. As these closures take affect and patrols move everywhere else to enforce them people will start going back. Sadly, all the work that was done there can be reversed in a weekend.

A popular stop for me was always Locks bridge. I could paddle upstream one way and back down another and wind up at the same spot. Was always a nice way to kill a few hours and didn't need another truck to pick up. Walking it in now doesn't make it doable anymore.
