Is the water from artesian wells safe to drink?

Home Depot sells a kit that you can use to test water, should you be so inclined. http://www.homedepot.com/p/PurTest-Home-Water-Analysis-Kit-777/202711663

For anybody who is interested, here are the photos that I took during my trip to Downeast Maine last week. What an amazing place.

    Hedger House history

Bear in mind that there were at least three workers at Martha named Hedger round that time: Owen, Joshua, and Mary. Owen and Joshua seem to have been involved with hauling ore. Mary worked in the kitchen. This all comes from the Martha Furnace Diary transcription in Iron in the Pines which you...

    Hedger House history

From Boyer's Place Names in Burlington County: HEDGER HOUSE : A former way station on old stage road to Manahawkin north of CHATSWORTH and just south of S-40 [now Rt. 70] in northern part of WOODLAND. The old hotel is now gone [this was written circa 1955] but there are a tavern and several...

    Hedger House history

Hedger House dates to (at least) the 1880s since it shows up on the historic NJ topo map. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of Boyer's Old Inns and Taverns in West Jersey to see if there's more information. It looks like someone has republished it - although it's a bit spendy.

ATV enthusiast rolls out plan for Pinelands

Of course Al has the first response. I just want to point out: Then why is it okay for tax dollars to be used to help purchase nature preserves such as the Franklin Parker Preserve when the majority of people in the state won't visit? Why is it okay for tax dollars to be spent maintaining...

    Historic Manuscripts

I've wanted to get my hands on Halpert's thesis for a long time, too. I think Princeton University has it on microfilm. I never got around to getting a copy while I worked there though. :(

Apple Pie Fire Tower - Fence/Gate being installed?

Maybe not so much anymore. Fracking companies have set up shop nearby, and have been pumping massive amounts of light into the sky. http://www.vqronline.org/essays-articles/2016/07/night-moves#overlay-context=photography/2016/07/tokyo-parrots

How do we stop the damage?

I think there should be a map (lower case) that people can pick up at Batsto and Atsion, but I think that the roads/areas that get closed off need to be decided on in a sane, transparent manner - not the way that the DEP was "advised" behind closed doors with the MAP.

A Fine Time For Fine Wine

My last experience with Scott's crazy juice was at the Lines on the Pines event four years ago. It was quite an adventure. At least what I remember.

I didn't take any pictures of Florence, but she did seem very nice when we did speak. Wish we could have her back.

How do we stop the damage?

One person went around the barricade at Jemima Mount and you're ready to call it a failure. The original MAP called for closing 50% of Wharton without increased enforcement. It's logical to assume that when people who don't respect the law flout those closures the next response will be to close...

    Spotlight Article on Off-Roading

You impound enough ATVs and obviously illegal ORVs and pretty soon people will get the hint.

How do we stop the damage?

This is further proof that Jason and the PPA will not be happy until all motorized access to Wharton is cut off.

Apple Pie Fire Tower - Fence/Gate being installed?

Can't say I blame them one bit. But it'd be nice if the FFS could set aside like one day a month, scheduled, to allow visitors up (under supervision), just so that people could know beforehand when it was open.
