    Ruins

I love that place. Where'd you stay? We've been down there twice, once at the Secrets Capri, and once at the El Dorado.

    Ruins

My bad, I looked at the rest of the gallery. I see you can still get on the ruins, what a surprise. They look none the worse for wear though. Thanks for providing me with a tropical moment! :)

Nice photo. Do they keep people off the ruins now? I hope so, you used to be able to climb the temple. Did you get to Tulum while you were there?

A few thoughts on the weather

It makes scientific sense to me that it's combustion of fossil fuels that's doing it. It scares me to pieces, and I think we better do something about it before we get ourselves in big trouble. I feel that the melting of the polar ice caps is a VERY VERY serious issue. I lost my house last year...

I don't like being lied to

And I hate when I order the chef's special posted on the window out front, and they tell me they're out of it! :jeffd:

    Snow on the way?

My husband is headed to Atlantic county today for a job, I am glad he has the Jeep. I drove through the belly of the beast today, up the Route one corridor through Princeton. It's pretty treacherous, we have about an inch of pure dry sleet, it's sort of weird. My Subaru is totally awesome on bad...

    Snow on the way?

Aw. Thanks! :) I don't know what it is that's the attractant, it's a very difficult test to do, believe it or not, so we didn't really work on the ingredients.

    Babesiosis

I tested that in the lab, and while it does work as a repellent, as it wears off, it actually becomes an attractant.

Gah. Lucky boy. If only we could live down there, but it's sort of a tough commute to northern Princeton. *sigh*

Returning To The Wescoat Bog Area...a PBX Hike

What great photos. I especially love the one of Buddy. Whoever said dogs can't laugh has never had a happy dog. :) The thing I love about the pines is that it's always a different experience whenever you go. The season, the time of day, the weather: It's always a totally different place...

And Boyd, have you tried picaridin yet? (Cutter Advanced).

That's scary! The ticks must really not be offended by it. The thing with DEET is that it doesn't kill them, it just bothers them. Permethrin does kill them. Interesting about your yard. I may have to collect some piney ticks for my lab. Bird flu is still very much a threat, it's still...

    Cold WEATHER

Hewey, are you a diver? :) I just spoke to my sister who's visiting a friend in Orlando. She said it was getting "chilly", it was almost down to 60.

    Nabbed

I am glad that dirtbag was apprehended. That's great news. Some people jsut have no soul.

So what are you doing for Valentines Day?

Congratulations! Valentine's Day is also my birthday. So to that end, we will probably celebrate by me not cooking dinner, ordering Chinese takeout and watching a movie. :)

    Babesiosis

The diseases are not new, but they used to be exotic. They infiltrated the country and are spreading around with their hosts, several different kinds of ticks. Well, Lyme disease is a "new" disease, but babesiosis, bartonella, ehrlichiosis, etc, have been around for a while. They were just...

    Babesiosis

I do that sort of research for a living, and DEET is actually a pretty good repellent, as is picaridin, (the active in Cutter Advanced) but your mileage may vary. Pyrethroids (permethrin, pyrethrin, etc etc) do work well too. I find that I have to reapply any of those every few hours at least...

So what would the Land Rover people say about those of us who tool around the Pines in a Jeep?
