It makes scientific sense to me that it's combustion of fossil fuels that's doing it. It scares me to pieces, and I think we better do something about it before we get ourselves in big trouble. I feel that the melting of the polar ice caps is a VERY VERY serious issue. I lost my house last year...

Aw. Thanks! :) I don't know what it is that's the attractant, it's a very difficult test to do, believe it or not, so we didn't really work on the ingredients.

I tested that in the lab, and while it does work as a repellent, as it wears off, it actually becomes an attractant.

Gah. Lucky boy. If only we could live down there, but it's sort of a tough commute to northern Princeton. *sigh*

That's scary! The ticks must really not be offended by it. The thing with DEET is that it doesn't kill them, it just bothers them. Permethrin does kill them. Interesting about your yard. I may have to collect some piney ticks for my lab. Bird flu is still very much a threat, it's still...

We did the same thing and have not received ours yet, either.

I do that sort of research for a living, and DEET is actually a pretty good repellent, as is picaridin, (the active in Cutter Advanced) but your mileage may vary. Pyrethroids (permethrin, pyrethrin, etc etc) do work well too. I find that I have to reapply any of those every few hours at least...

So what would the Land Rover people say about those of us who tool around the Pines in a Jeep? :dance:
