    Forked River Mountains in 2022

Yeah, it's frustrating. We need a better solution than closing the roads.

    Fix Our Parks

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance and the NJ TRail Conference among others have banded together for a “Fix Our Parks” campaign to urge the state to address the parks project backlog, to promote eco and historical tourism, and to properly staff the departments. I’m a writer and I offered to...

Wow, that’s like the northern pike I used to catch in Minnesoder.

Why New Jersey and Oregon still don't let you pump your own gas

I hate self checkout at grocery stores. It always messes up and they need to come swipe the card or enter a code anyway. They want to put everyone out of work to make more money. I’ll have my gas pumped, thank you. If you can’t find anything in a store and there’s no one around to ask, this is why.

    Forked River Mountains in 2022

Thanks Bob. I tried getting in by roads near Well’s Mills Nature Center a few weeks ago. I’ll try Lacey Road. I’m cautious because I don’t have a winch or recovery strap. I have a few traction boards and a shovel. But entry from Lacey seems best, even if I park and walk it.

    Forked River Mountains in 2022

I want to get as close to the top of Forked River Mountain as possible so I can walk to the peak. I'll take whatever road is safest. I don't want to get stuck there. I always measure puddles and use the go-around if they are there.

Getting to Mount / Washington without a mudder vehicle or dirtbike?

You can get to Mount from Washington Turnpike more easily. There are washouts but they are maybe 6" deep and hard pack on the bottom. I made it no problem.

Getting to Mount / Washington without a mudder vehicle or dirtbike?

That AirLocation app doesn't seem to exist. Apple probably nuked it.

Getting to Mount / Washington without a mudder vehicle or dirtbike?

I don't think it was a precise fix, but I was using your website in the Chrome app and it kept moving the map. I wanted to put it on the dashboard but I didn't.

Getting to Mount / Washington without a mudder vehicle or dirtbike?

The position updated on the iPad and I was in the car using the iPhone as a hotspot. It may have been getting it through Find My iPhone or something similar, they are on the same Apple account and I've noticed they sync things Apple doesn't tell you about.

    Forked River Mountains in 2022

That's scary because I took Jones in the opposite direction around Webbs Mill branch looking for that boardwalk. I've got a Subaru Outback. Looking at your photos, I wouldn't try getting in that way. I've got 10" clearance but some of that looks real muddy. Did you say there were go-arounds?

    Forked River Mountains in 2022

I was just about to ask how to get up there. I was out that way to see the dwarf pines and Cedar Bridge Tavern and drove to Webbs Mill nature center. They don't let you on Morey Road so I'm not sure if that's the way or not. I'll go take a look and let you know.

Getting to Mount / Washington without a mudder vehicle or dirtbike?

Thanks. This weekend I used my iPhone as a hotspot and the ipad (for whatever reason) managed to get location while I had signal. But this will be good for when that signal disappears....

Getting to Mount / Washington without a mudder vehicle or dirtbike?

Thanks all. I loaded a bunch of Boyd's gpx maps on my Garmin and I made it to Mount from Washington Turnpike. The washouts on Quaker Bridge-Washington road aren't as bad in that direction! I found the old well in Mount. Thankfully someone stuck a log in it or I might have found it by falling in...

I’ve driven up Apple Pie Hill several times and haven’t seen the bottling plant. Is that one of the squares on the topo map?

    Harsh !

Ugh. One of my favorite little getaways was that WMA in Winslow. I can see why they closed it, jerks have left a bunch of trash near the water and rusted grills, and two folding chairs. As usual these rules will only affect the people who aren't litter bugs

    I have no words.

There’s a cleanup Saturday & Sunday next week (4/30-5/1) run by a Subaru Facebook group, meeting at 10am sharp at All Star Bagels in New Egypt (overflow in the Wawa parking lot) I plan on going Sunday to help clean up some.
