DEP determined to resolve pinelands access disputes

Thanks, I just came here to post this article. I am writing my local reps to state my opposition to the permit plan. You can find yours, and write to them all at once here: In my experience, the local state reps nearly always answer. https://www.njleg.state.nj.us/legislative-roster

    Is Hermann all but gone?

Thanks, all! I'll try again at low tide. I think I see the illegal house ruins on the satellite map now.

    Is Hermann all but gone?

Thanks. I need to head up Apple Pie Hill again, too. Find the soda bottle factory.

    Is Hermann all but gone?

I was going to resurrect this old thread below, but figured I ought to start a new one. I went looking for the cellar hole of the Hermann hotel, the glassworks, and the unfinished house on the Mullica this Saturday. I started at Crowley's landing, where supposedly some glass was around, but that...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

Do you have more info about the Open Trails NJ people? I tried to join, and their site for taking memberships was offline. So I emailed people using their form and received bouncebacks that they don't exist. Their forum hasn't been posted to in many years, but now there's a new page. I assume...

    Aerohaven

It’s a cool place. I found a “remembering forgotten regional airports” site when I was looking it up, and I wrote about it here: https://thomaspluck.substack.com/p/the-ruins-of-an-abandoned-airport

    Area Closed Off

The last time I tried to drive down to Hawkins from Friendship, the washouts were very deep, and I turned back shortly after the turnoff for the monument for the blueberry field that’s mostly a giant granite block. I imagine someone got stuck there.

How New Jersey Plans to Relocate Flooded ‘Ghost Forests’ Inland

“Bob Williams, owner of Pine Creek Forestry, says it’s past time for the state to more actively manage its vast public forests. He has helped manage cedar on private lands in New Jersey for decades. About 15 years ago, as part of a remediation project for a private landowner, he bulldozed 25...

    Winslow Area

I find it hard to believe the PR team called this rich man's estate "the largest organic farm east of the Mississippi" when I don't see any crops. My guess is it's a Christmas Tree farm, rich people use them to avoid paying property taxes a lot. I am glad that he cleaned up the quarry and the...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I called him out on this in an email. It's misleading and not helpful. He says he sees "satellite imagery" of damage, and videos posted to social media all the time. If off-roaders are posting videos of breaking the law, we should be able to report them to law enforcement and see results.

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I signed up for the 9am cleanup. They can copy down my vanity plate if they want. I had signed up for a cleanup with Fix Our Parks, but I am not going to give them my labor. I did a cleanup with a Subaru group a few weeks ago in Turkey Swamp. But we're the bad guys.

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

Thanks for this. I joined up. I want to "Fix Our Parks" but I am not going to support the PPA and their permit scheme, and attempts to lock down the parks for use by their kayak and tour business. I wish I'd read more threads here before joining the PPA and sending them money.

Caravan from Atsion to Washington and around

That's why we're ALL going to be online for that meeting... RIGHT? I mean, Pinelands Adventures drives a SCHOOL BUS down these same roads. I'm sure any wildlife gets out their way, unlike an Evil Off-Roader, who has a Animal Magnetism bumper that draws in endangered species.

Caravan from Atsion to Washington and around

On Sunday, I met with some *gasp* off-roaders at Atsion for a caravan to Quaker Bridge, down Goodwater Road to Washington Turnpike, and down a few other roads there. We kept to the marked roads and had a good time. We met some dirt bikers on Mount Road, who also looked like they were behaving...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

The Pinelands Alliance sent out an email to members today with instructions to be at the meeting. We need to be there unless we want their voice to be the only one and the loudest. I am not "the offroad lobby" I am a citizen who is concerned with the environment, who wants to stop the roads from...
