    rumors ?

Northeast I meant from High crossing. Guy, yes that is the cement foundation of the old gun club I thought, or so I was told. Thought maybe that is what MarkBNJ was referring to in regards to a cement pad.

    rumors ?

Pinecrest would be southeast of high crossing. The cement foundation there, which is quite unspectacular is the defunct Waretown Gun Club to my knowledge. Maybe he is confusing that foundation as a remenant of Harris Station?

    restricted areas ?

Apologies for getting you going vollie. Stock trading is going great, giving me plenty of money to blow on 3.50 cent gas to the go enjoy the pines, and donate to conservation organizations. I had to do some fieldwork in the plains this spring and summer and it was the first time I've ever...

Yo Vollie you get a piece before you wrote this man you weren't pretty bent out of shape before this post. One question I don't like seeing burnt forest either but I thought the burning is neccesary in order for it to remain the pine barrens in the future? I've been told by a well known...

Well said Guy! In regards to homes in Barnegat being burnt that is a risk of living in the barrens. Its the same as earthquakes in California/Japan, hurricanes in Florida, floods along rivers. Again your posts contradict each other. You say that the people have learned through first hand...

    Bear population spreads across NJ

I've never really seen any signs of bears in the barrens and I've been through some desolate areas tracking rattlesnakes. I tend to think the ones that have been seen are just passing through. With all the blueberries you would think if bears were here that we would be hearing about it much more.

Al I've learned alot from you as well with R&A and other things along with all the other unknowledgable people on this site...lol. Al was just down in your neck of the woods doing some hiking, the woods are quiet down there today, seemed like it was the middle of the winter....didn't hear too...

    Attention NJ Forest Fire Service

Couple questions.....maybe you can help clarify I've just started going the the pine barrens last year after participating on this site and I'm confused, it was my understanding based on my reading that the pine barrens relies on fire to sustain itself and without fire it would become a...

    Closed to Mortorized Vehicles

Those signs will mean nothing to the young/irresponsible folks who tear that area up. I hope it keeps them out but I doubt it. I respect the move and think it was neccesary but I hope it doesn't lead to the destruction of another area around there.....all that land is very sensitive. This...

    Vehicle for traveling sand roads

Brandon sell that 2wd jeep and buy a 4wd. Cherokee's in 2wd are about the worst thing on the sandy roads. Remember when I gave you and your buddies a lift out of the barrens that one time and had to go about 30 mph nearly killing your friends..hah....that was because my 4wd was busted. It was...

    New Jersey

Does anyone else not really consider themselves from NJ? When I tell people where I'm from I say South Jersey....I consider this state to be three separate states(Northwest Jersey, Central-Northeast Jersey and South Jersey. I drive 45 miles to work everyday into Princeton and the cultural...

Is this unusual - for birders

Thanks Guy, that first sentence had all sorts of errors, must have been half asleep. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I figured it wasn't to out of the ordinary but something I've never seen. I did notice the birds were real aggressive with each other so there must have some fish there.

Is this unusual - for birders

Up where I work on the Millstone River there has been like 10-20 Great Blue Herons standing on the ice at the edge of the frozen/non frozen areas. They have been there this whole week. Also there has been a couple bald eagles perched on branches there as well. I've never seen this many herons...

I had heard the DEP did this in the early 80's but I was skeptical. August 4th 1981

I kind of feel like the state may have tried this a couple years back as well. It seemed like 4-5 years ago there was alot of bear sightings in various counties in south jersey but I haven't heard of any sightings until this past summer. I know of a confirmed sighting in Warren Grove and also...
