Pinelands panel gets grant to develop trail

http://www.state.nj.us/pinelands/landuse/reg/byway.html It seems the trail sticks to highways. I wonder what the money is for, signs? At least it stays away from the wilderness. Ed

    New Jersey trails plan

They should restrict the number of canoes they can drop off in an hour. If they fix up the Mullica and the Batsto, they'll be a mess too. It's better to keep them primitive.

    Stone bridge on the Mullica

Barely, if at all. I never noticed the tide much untill I got to the Forks. It's not a problem paddeling this stretch when the tide is coming in, just get out of the channel and it's easy going.

    Stone bridge on the Mullica

It appears that the wood is only supporting the wall at the waters edge, but I really couldn't see more. The side I posted pictures of is on state land, the other is private and in a much worse state.

    Stone bridge on the Mullica

On Friday we took our third paddle on the Mullica this year from the canoe landing just above Batsto to Crawleys Landing. It's always a facinating trip, be it nature or observing what humans have done to their side of the river. We've never done this section at such low water, and provided an...

    Replacing Bridge on Carranza

Thunking We were walking near High Crossing this morning and could hear the thunking of the pile drivers working at the Friendship bridge. It was fun to let my imagination go and imagine it was the sound of a forge echoing through the forest.

Any good hiking trails in the Pines aside from Batona?

No, I have one, a hybrid, but it is uncomfortable for me to ride. My body dosen't like being leaned forward and even with a gel seat, putting your weight on you prostate just dosen't feel good. I'll sitck to horses.
