    For the hunters

Just wondering how many points would a quality buck have, something hunters would get excited about. I was in a woods in haddonfield a week or so ago, and saw a half dozen bucks together. One of the bucks was at least a 8 point, was a big healthy looking deer. Just wondering how many points...

Pet turtles require more space than you may think

Jimbo, the law is kind of setup for the purpose of pet stores selling to new jersey residents. To be honest it is a good law for the turtles, pet stores have no business selling turtles or any wild animal for that matter. Private breeders can sell turtles at reptile shows to new jersey...

Pet turtles require more space than you may think

Ok let me clear some things up here. Turtles are perfectly legal to own in new jersey as long as you have a permit to keep them and provide documentation that they were obtained legally, NOT wild caught. As new jersey residents you are not allowed to sell turtles to new jersey residents but...

A question for long time cherry hill residents

Thanks, I checked out that 1930's map and it did look like farmland. I was wondering whether it was wetlands since everything along the cooper right there is swampy. Also Scott I saw some big bucks with good size velvet antlers back there. I've seen tracks in haddonfield and lawnside but...

A question for long time cherry hill residents

Can anyone tell me what the woodcrest speed line was before they built the subway station there and parking lot. Was it farmland, upland forest, meadow, swamp? I recently found some interesting wildlife there by the cooper river and was wondering what existed there before they built everything...

    Parkway tunnels planned for critters

These should have been erected on all highways a long time ago. At least they are starting to build them now, unfortunately most the animals near the road have probably been wiped out.

    Turks Cap Lily

Steve, no it was exactly that plant. I have day lilies around my backyard pond. I remember thinking they were day lilies only they were facing the ground with a stem that was very thin and up to about my chin and I'm 6 foot 1.

Bob, is that plant rare at all? I saw the same plant and lots of them in crows woods in haddonfield. I thought it was some sort of iris that someone planted there, I will try to get some pictures this week. Chris

    Adventure on the Mullica

The cedar water has a tendency to really bring out reds and yellows. If you ever see painted and redbelly turtles in the water they are absolutely gorgeous compared to other water habitats. The cedar water keeps things very clean and when these things go under things to hide it is normally...

    remote bogs

I've recently seen three dens like this and have thought groudhog or fox. However I've found three pine snakes right around them recently and snake fences, so I'm thinking that they may be dens. Jeff, one thing you will notice is both dens are in the open along woodsy areas which is typical of...

    remote bogs

Jeff, I was thinking along those lines. I've yet to see an actual natural pine snake den, so I'm basing this off pictures. The surroudings of that area are pine snake habitat with the open canopy, which is what made me think along those lines. I've simply seen pictures of them and some look...
