    Are these snakes in pines?

You are correct rat snakes will climb trees to eat both birds and their eggs. However, both pine snakes and hognose snakes do not climb as a rule. Small shrubry is a possibility but def. not the norm. Pine snakes are big clumsy slow snakes so climbing is a tough task. I will let bob speak...

    Are these snakes in pines?

The are a species of concern because their numbers are suspected to be diminishing. Their main food source is the fowler's toad, also a species of concern, subsequently if one is declining the other will also. Fowler's toads and all amphibians are on the decline due to pollutants and acid rain.

    Are these snakes in pines?

Trust me snakes don't care for us either. Sounds like a hognose completely harmless and a species of concern in nj, what county was the snake seen in?

Child is attacked by Coyote in Middletown

I find it hard to believe that fish and game would plant bears and coyotes anywhere in this state. Bears simply crossed the watergap and started populating new jersey. As for coyotes with the amount of deer we have here something needs to control their population. Also the key thing is that...

    Some spotted turtles

LongIsland, these guys should be there(spotted's), box turtles, painted, snapper, and musks should be fairly common. I'm sure you've walked past a few, if your not looking for them they can go unoticed most of the time. Here is a list of the one's in new york...

    Some spotted turtles

Thanks, when I'm down there I know they are safe, but that leaves six days out of the week for the collectors.

    Some spotted turtles

Here are some pictures of some spotted turtles found on the edge of the southern pine barrens. A couple dozen were seen in total so appears poachers haven't found this spot yet.

    beautiful day today

My bad Bob, it wasn't from your post. Dave don't worry about it, you did really nothing wrong. I have done the same thing on here and now know to be really vague. I don't think anyone thinks you collect. Unfortunately most collectors know locations before anyone else, because they are...

    beautiful day today

Bob, I'm chiming in. <deleted> I'm not sure what prices are now because I refuse to log onto the classified sections of those sites. That is really good news to hear about that place. Bob, maybe you just hit a couple bad years there I know I'm expieriencing one so far this year. I've seen...

    Rt.55

Its new jersey nothing takes long to get there.

    Rt.55

To me that area by around the delaware bay should be protected like the pine barrens are. I like to call that area the new jersey everglades. It is as desolate, undisturbed, and wild as south jersey gets. I would be afraid that easier access would bring the area more development.

    Rt.55

Its a horrible idea that area down there is one of the most undisturbed spots in new jersey. Extending rt. 55 will just open it up to development and all the other bs. If you don't want to wait in traffic don't go down the shore in the summer. Traffic is a part of life everyone deals with it.

    Eagles moving back to philadelphia

Seems like there is a reason as to why I'm seeing bald eagles all over the place. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070316/ap_on_sc/bald_eagles;_ylt=AoUme.Svl1zaKHS17D9PI6txieAA

    Brave hunters

I actually had my first venison burger last summer, was very good and tasty. I hear what your saying, most things in order to be good at it, is much more work then pleasure. But normally that reward is worth all the work, so I understand what your saying.

    Brave hunters

Bob, awesome pictures it reminds me of that show on pbs where the old guy goes up and lives in alaska. The fourth shot looks like the same area.

    Brave hunters

FooFoo, I don't hunt but the whole feeding my family thing I never understand. I really don't think the average hunters family is sitting at home starving while pops is out in the woods looking for food. And if pops doesn't kill something the family is going to be in grave danger of...

    Turkey????

Yeah those are turkey tracks, I've seen some big ones and those rank right up with them.

    Brave hunters

I agree with pinepaddler. I have absolutely no problem with hunting when it is done to control animal populations. I don't know these guys but I can say with 90% certainty that these guys were not hunting because they were starving and needed food to put on their table, or because there...

    New Woods and Male Bonding

Bob, it was hard to see the size in that picture. I've seen a handful of pine snakes but never their dens. Just pictures were it is hard to gain perspective of the size. I was thinking that the excess sand was from the digging up process. But like I said I could be way off. Fox sounds right.
