    Snow storms are mythical things...

Yeah, I hear you. I love tracking in the snow. I will follow a track for a while but mostly I just find tracks in general and try to identify them. It is alot of fun!

Short paddle on the Wading River

Very Nice. canoeing upstream is a bit of work. I usually prefer the kayak for going up stream. Glad you had a nice trip and glad you got out of there before the hard rain. Jeff

    The call of the wild

That is interesting. I would think that it would have to be one bad-assed coyote to take out a donkey. But I could see a pack taking one down. Do you remember what paper you saw this in? I would like to read the details. Jeff

    The call of the wild

Sorry Bob I missed this post. That sounds good. The coyote howling is hit or miss. and when it does happen it is usually very late. But I would like to take you up on a 6-pack some day, but what are you gonna drink? ha, ha. Jeff

So what are you doing for Valentines Day?

You know that attitude they have. Like, "we're wood ducks, we're too good for you". Actually, I was a little over medicated on sleep inducing meds when I wrote that. Don't look too much into it. I am sure wood ducks are as humble as any other type of duck. Jeff

    apartments/condos in the pines

I used to go to stockton. I think there are some apartments if you go down Jimmy Leeds road heading east past the parkway rest stop turn off and on the left. But you are probably much better off googling "apartments in Pomona or Galloway" or something along those lines.

So what are you doing for Valentines Day?

The refudge is great. I try to get out there now then. I like wood ducks. I think they are the most attractive duck. Only problem is I think they know it and are a little high on themselves.

    old bogs

I did not acually see one on this outing. I saw the wakes in the shallow water indictive of pickerel. In this type of environment I come across far more redfin than chainsides. The redfins are actually quite plentiful. Remember they are significantlly smaller than the chains. I rarely see...

    The call of the wild

I am no expert, but based off of what I have read I suppose the main differences are that coyotes are more adaptive to their environment and require less open space. Coyotes and wolves have historically been very competitive with each other. The coyotes' ability to adapt to human intrusion...

    Pro at Work-Stay Clear

I remember setting up snares in boy scouts, just for practice. In those instances we would use a bent sapling for a spring. What sort of spring device is used on these snares? How powerful is it? Jeff

    old bogs

That is a good question and hard to answer this early since the move. Speaking strickly about the woods...The ease of getting to it is about the same. The solitude is better since my neighbors are further away. The woods here is far less populated as well, more remote. As for exploring...hmmm...
