    Chigged.

Jeff, are the bogs at whitesbog still all dug up. Last time I went there to look for reptiles a good amount of the bogs were having new locks installed. Kind of turned me off from the place since areas where i use to find turtles were now all bulldozed over.

    Got Stranded

One thing you could carry along with gatorade is one of those inserts in backpacks that you can fill up with water. My buddy had one when we went biking on monday. It simply is a backpack that his a 3 liter insert that fills up with water. It has a tube that you can suck on to get the water...

extended heat wave harmful to critters?

The problem with gatorade is it quenches your thirst. Which as a result causes you to get more dehydrated because you don't feel like you need to drink anymore. You can't go wrong with good old h2o.

    Bobcat tracks

Yeah I'm buying it today and will set it up tommorrow I'm going to place it right next to where it always drops its scat. I have seen its scat over the last three months in the same spot. Yesterday was the first time I was at the spot in 3 weeks and the amount of scat and prints was much...

    Bobcat tracks

Yeah I noticed that once I looked close, they were not visible by the naked eye. Also there seemed to be two different sets of tracks around the area, some clearly showed no marks, some did. The camera should tell me what it is.

    Bobcat tracks

On the way home from the shore I decided to look at my possible cat spot. I found a ton of prints and its cat box which is about 2*2.5 was filled with cat like scat. It had no hair in it, mostly crawfish like matter and bone??, was very thin like a cats. Now I have seen yote scat and it is much...

    Bobcat tracks

Jeff, I've been back to that spot once since then and saw nothing. It has been just too hot for the woods right now. This coming week I intend to get out if I can.

    Some questions

I was just looking at the list of reptiles and amphibians in new jersey. I was real suprised to see that they listed timber rattlesnakes as occurring in gloucester and cumberland counties. I always thought they were restricted to burlington and ocean. Also does anyone know if five-lined skinks...

    possible illegal pine catching

I don't know if they have any programs like that going on. Normally they begin programs like that when the population is really endangered and bringing wild caught adults in to captivity is the best possibility of the population increasing. I know down the shore they headstart terrapins at the...

    The Luck Continues...NJ Pine Barrens

Brandon, you have been due, congrats. About how big was she? I can't tell from the pic, she looks pretty long in your hands. After seeing that pic I now realize the one I came across was a really thick snake. Chris

    possible illegal pine catching

Releasing captives back into the wild is NEVER a good idea. Here is a thread from kingsnake.com, explaining some jersey regs on breeding reptiles, http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=1109450,1109450. I can assure you that releasing them into the wild is not an option. New jersey treats...

    huge snake

I saw one that was at least 6-7ft. That is the biggest I've ever seen in both pa and nj, but I've only seen about 12-15 rats in my life and most are in the 3-5 foot range. Here is a pic of the big rat, http://forums.njpinebarrens.com/showthread.php?t=2713

    Campers at Columbus?

As for the guy named callahan, was he a priest? I know there was a mgsr. callahan at st. rose church in haddon heights. He died recently but maybe he was the guy you are referring to. I saw the crosses in the background of that photo and thought maybe he could have been the guy. Also that is...

    Campers at Columbus?

If you have any more stories of finding reptiles I'm all ears. I'm always very curious as to whether or not reptiles have suffered a large decline in the pines, or maybe they have always been difficult to find. I live right on the border line between barrington and haddonfield, where did you...

    Finally a pinesnake

Guy, I know what your saying, sometimes the link sends you directly to my photobucket. I'm not sure how to do it though. I think the reason why it is small is that when I have my zoom lense on it creates a smaller picture. I had my 35mm on when I took the mud turtle shot maybe that is why it...

    Finally a pinesnake

Thanks guys, I have spent about 150 hours in the pines this spring and summer and walked about over 100 miles so it was about time I found one. Also I know of den about 100 feet away from were I found her, I wasn't sure if it was a pine snake den, but I'm pretty sure now. Snakehunter, as far...
