Oct 28 9:45 6th annual PINE BARRENS 4 WHEEL DRIVE CLEANUP

My gut is that it is Wescoat mainly because every dead one in the Pleasant Mills Cemetery at the end of the road leading to the bogs is a "Wescoat". http://interment.net/data/us/nj/atlantic/pleasant_mills.htm

If we walked in from the Batsto end did we enter the Eas side of Wescoat? :)

    newbie at GPS question

In GoogleEarth, go to "tools" and then "options". You can set the units to display as degrees and decimals of a degree OR degrees, minutes seconds and decimals of a second. The default is degrees, minutes, seconds and decimals of a second. The degrees, minutes, seconds prototcol is the same...

Jeff and Bob both know the New Lisbon area very well. During the 2 times I have been there with them, I saw enough trash to fill at least a 30 yarder in just on one short stretch of road. The area is very close to 4 Mile Circle so it really isn't that far out there.

Dottie won a NJ Parks and Forestry tote bag. I think it will hold a 12 pack and ice if I pack it right. :) I think the rest of our group went home with dusty clothes and a couple chiggers.

Oct 28 9:45 6th annual PINE BARRENS 4 WHEEL DRIVE CLEANUP

A great day in the woods with good friends. My camera had some issues so I have nothing to post. George and I have noticed a drop in the dumping down this way in the past few years and we worked hard to put together three loads of crap on the south side of the local bogs. Bob has a good idea...

I was thinking about the area where you, me and Bob hiked around Bisphams Mill. The roadsides there were really bad. A little bit of a haul from Atsion though. Scott

Westcoat is one of my longtime favorite areas Bob. I'll talk to you tomorrow about the logistics of what we have to yank. If you think we can do something there let's do it. I think one run through Pestletown might take care of things.

    The call of the wild

The first coyotes I heard in NJ were about 10 years ago near Wescoat bogs. It was a cold, quiet and dark morning and a friend of mine and I were setting up tree stands about an hour before dawn for deer. The coyotes were off in the distance near the river and it was an awesome sound. It made...

    Broke in the New Jeep

I don't know Bob I think I still see paint in that picture. :) Nobody and I mean nobody, can rival the woods wear that I have seen on a guy named Jake Meredith's trucks. He is a fox hunter and lives in Chatsworth. I don't know him personally but one of my best friends does, whose father...

    Broke in the New Jeep

Can't worry about the paint if you love the woods. My wife and I are now using her old 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee (white) as our woods truck on occassion. We had it back to Mannis yesterday and I was very happy with how tight it can turn. We were going to sell it but we decided to keep it for the...

    Refreshing the Soul

I am sorry to hear about your dad Tom. I know that he must have been a fisherman because I remember your post about selling the boat that was docked at Matt's Landing. My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 1990 and died in 1997. One of my biggest regrets was not being able to get him out...

    Chatsworth Cranberry Festival

Batsto Country Living Fair is on Sunday too. I haven't hit Chatsworth in along time. Way too many people. Batsto has some cool antique equipment, tractors and hit and miss engines.

    Refreshing the Soul

Thanks everyone for the kind words . She is slowly improving each day and will likely be in the hospital for at least the balance of this week. The nursing staff has been great and have showed a lot of compassion toward her.

    Refreshing the Soul

I had a very trying week this past week with my 85 year old mother knocking on heaven's door. She has severe dementia and has been in the NJ Veterans home for 8 years. My father died there in 1997 with Alzheimers. On Wednesday she was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and a bad urinary...

    Adirondack Trip

You are living quite the life there Mr. Bob. Beautiful photographs. The wine grape harvest and juicing is in full swing up there right now. I just got some NY juice from my Hammonton supplier the other day and he will be hauling down more next week. I guess you were feeling a little small...

    Mullica, Then

I was once a boob-scanning 25 year old myself. :) Talk about out of context. Cool pics George. It is always awesome seeing tidal water bodies lock up tight.

This heat should raise some alarms

I agree with Mark. Its easy to believe it's an indication of global warming when you are standing in sweat in October but as soon as we return to normal in a few days, that perception will change. Temperature records have not really been kept all that long from a historical perspective but...
