    Broken glass on graves

I think I remember something about African-American grave sites using glass to decorate unmarked graves when money wasn't available to buy a tombstone. This may be the connection or origin at least.

    Roger's House?

I remember hearing from someone or something that the cabin at Upper Mill (Lower?) was moved somewhere else to protect it. It may have met its demise somewhere else. I can't remember the source but it may have been told to me by someone in the area.

    Herman City Hotel Fire

Wow, I had no idea it had been there that recently! That would be the old Sooy homestead right? Maybe I remember the last name wrong. It was as old as the hills.

anyone with info on old house near batsto ?

I knew that house was doomed but it hurts me to know it has finally met it's end. I really wanted the State to do something since the house symbolized the former village of Bulltown and was an irreplaceable monument to the ghost town there. It was in pretty good shape too and could have been...

    Mary Ann Forge and Cranberries

I had reported in another thread of meeting a man while at Mary Ann (last name Taylor) who grew up in the house adjacent to the pump house you guys are discussing. He said that the big concrete foundations nearby were...foundations when he was a kid. He was in his mid-70's when I met him...

Article about NJ parks closing due to budget cuts

This is true and it is sad to know that it is an attempt to make the thieves "let up" on the usual heavy dipping that is the typical burden on our State economy. I hope we can have another real revolution and Americans will wake up and rid our selves of the people in power right now.

    Cranberry Hall

That was a very interesting history of Pointville, which I hadn't even heard of before. Some of the buildings pictured, especially the farm building, looked extremely old.

    Atsion Mansion Restoration

Yeah, I use one too, but haven't done so in the Pines yet. This guy also told me that someone had found a bag of gold coins in the area of Quaker Bridge which were supposed to be worth a lot of dough. He said it was apparent that Martha was riddled with dig holes from treasure seekers. He...

    Atsion Mansion Restoration

I met some guy at Martha about a month ago who was using a metal detector. I wasn't happy to see him using it but I didn't get too much onto him about it. He SAID he donated a lot of things to the historical society, but he was definately treasure hunting. The reason I'm posting this is...

    Led Zep

I just wanted to let you guys know that some of the problems I heard from the 12/10 show were based in part to the poor quality of the recording I had. I got a better sounding CD and I can now hear that what seemed like missing notes were just cropped out and overpowered by sonic problems...

    Led Zep

Yeah, I would agree. I'm hoping they want to do it again either because it was enjoyable or they want to get it better so they can produce a better audio/video product (CD/DVD) for sale. Not excatly sure what made them do it, but I'd love to see them over here. People paid extraordinary...

    Led Zep

According to what I've read, the show was not professionally recorded for audio or video. But yes, there is amateur video available. I am expecting it soon.

    Led Zep

I have the whole show on CD in fairly good sound. They were definately rough, but many great moments as well. Robert Plant's voice would go from very cautious to surprisingly strong. There were a lot of screw ups between Page and Jason Bonham. Trampled Underfoot came off great as did No...

    Wright's And Phoenix Forge

Are you referring to Phoenix Forge formerly located in Lakehurst (Manchester)? I know there were two there, so the Wright's Forge you mention may be the other? I haven't thought about them for a while, so I can't recall the other iron works name.

    Bodine's Tavern

I think the remnants of the old raceway and a later bog can be found beyond the cellar hole. I did not find any evidence of the former alleged mill though.

    Found this website.

My last Jeep (89 Cherokee) had all sorts of problems with age, but the straight-6 engine never needed anything (always had a very slow gasket leak) and it always ran well. I usually bragged about the reliability of the Jeep engine.. So I bought another one a few years ago (year 2000 make...

    Cedar Bridge Tavern Decision

Yeah, I couldn't find a link to the story on their website or I would have linked it. I would also scan the article but I don't think the memory for the site would allow it to be large enough to read. I can email a scan to anyone who's interested.

    Cedar Bridge Tavern Decision

The Asbury Park Press had an article today re an unpcoming meeting to decide if the State will buy the Tavern for $120,000 from Mr. Koenig. Koenig has owned it for 40 years and is in his 80's. He is allowed to reside in the house indefinately but the property will be under the authority of NJ...
