Pasadena and Greenwood Forest Historical Info

I have been trying to locate a place that can digitally scan large documents (3'X4'), but have had no luck. If ever I do manage to find someone that can scan it, I will send you a copy.

Pasadena and Greenwood Forest Historical Info

I just read this thread for the first time tonight...nice find Guy. The Jones Tract map (surveyed by Jos. Cox) also shows Old Half Way on the Ocean County side. I believe you may have a copy of this map, albeit, not a very good one. I tried to take a clear photo of it tonight, but my camera...

    Richard Jones of Hanover Furnace

He had much of the same information that I have collected. He didn't know anything about the Florence Iron Works, though. And, he told me that Richard also had a coal trading business in Philadelphia and New York. He is going to try and get a better photo of Richards picture for me.

    Richard Jones of Hanover Furnace

It took me three years of searching to locate this. I would imagine that there is more stuff out there, as this is only one descendant. Apparently there was a painting of Benjamin Jones that went to Vetnor, Isle of Wight with his grand-daughter Alice (Jones) Williams, but it got destroyed in a...

    Richard Jones of Hanover Furnace

I tracked down a cousin of mine that lives in Ithica, NY and he happened to have a tin-type of Richard Jones and a water color of the manor house on the lake at Hanover Furnace. I have posted copies of them in my album (grandchildren of Richard Jones) for anyone who may be interested. They are...

Towers of Fire: Iron Production in the Pine Barrens

There is a shattered cannon with a ball that was pulled out of the North Branch of the Rancocas creek at the Pemberton Historical Society (the train station) that is believed to have come from Hanover.

    Question about cleaning books.

Hey everyone. I have been away from the board for a while. Anyway, I have a few old books that were packed in a trunk in my father's barn for the past 18 years and prior to that they had been in his basement for at least 30 years...where they were prior to that I haven't any idea, except...

I agree, nice find Guy. It's ashame about the others, though. Given enough time they will all be lost.

    Body World

Has anyone gone to the Body World exhibit at the Franklin Institute? I went last night and it was absolutely amazing. If you haven't gone and are interested in this sort of thing (even if you're not), make a point to see it. I think the exhibit ends at the end of the month. T

I'm Going To Be A Dad!!

Congratulations Jeff! You are going to have a blast. I was scared out of my mind when Kate told me she was pregnant with our daughter; but now, I can't wait for the next one to get here. We are due in late November. Tom

    No More Carcasses

Has anyone read Fast Food Nation? It will give you a new perspective on cheese burgers and chicken nuggets. It is a good book and has made me think quite differently about the foods that I eat.

    Spring Peepers

I was at a friends house this evening in Columbus and heard spring peepers for the first time this season. That has got to be the most relaxing sound.

USGS Finds, Hanover Stone Finds, and a Cemetery Walk

Nice work Guy, and great pictures. I hope your luck holds for when we go out next time. I have been very fortunate to have found this website (thanks Ben). So many members have given and helped me to find more information about my family than I ever thought possible.

    Madness In The News

I was being facetious in my first replies. However, immigrants, be them legal or illegal, are an important part of our economic well being these days - this is true. I do agree with your amazement...for lack of a better word, though. I always thought that the word illegal meant what it...

    Another end of an era.

It truly is sad. My grandmother's sister was born on that farm. They live right around the corner from me.
