    Batsto Country Living Fair

Managed to make both today! But sat in traffic outside Batsto for 35 minutes to do so :) The four year old was obsessed with the chainsaw artist. The alpacas were also a hit.

    Buzby's

Stopped by the Cranberry Festival today just to go in one more time. Took the four year old with me, hopefully he'll remember it this time around. He got a snowy owl that makes real bird calls when you squeeze it, so he was thrilled with the deal. It was really nice of Linda Stanton and her...

Canoeing the Forks of Rancocas Creek - Mt. Holly to Hainsport

Few weeks ago, I finally got to canoe the forks of the Rancocas. Put in above the dam at Iron Works Park, which required a nearly immediate portage, but allowed me to check out a creepy tree and the dam. Next stretch was through Mt. Holly, passing under the various bridges, and giving...

    Where is this?

I never see anything on the Batona, I'm too busy desperately searching for the next blaze so I don't end up lost in the woods forever!!! Actually, that isn't true anymore, they really have done a beautiful job of reblazing it. :) Edit - totally didn't even notice the monument in the picture...

    Where is this?

This might be the least fair one yet :) Have a few ideas, but I'm going to go with just north of Batona Campground heading toward Skit Branch?

    Buzby's

Very sad. I do hope someone buys it and keeps it going, and that it doesn't end up sitting and deteriorating.

    Anyone try this place out

Went back there yesterday, MUCH improved. New bathrooms, whole new entrance with parking lot on Route 130, and newly cut trails. The trail markings are a little confusing at the moment, but Burlington County Parks is usually really good about that sort of thing, so I'm sure that it will be...

Jersey Devil ultimate pop culture thread

So I rewatched the X-Files episode, figuring that it could not be as bad as I remembered. I twas actually worse. The Jersey Devil is a group of cavemen that live in Atlantic City? :beerspill:

    Anyone try this place out

I did it about a year and a half ago before the new trails. It was icy out, so it took forever, but it was a nice hike. https://southjerseytrails.org/2015/03/01/crystallake/

    The Penn Branch Trail

Nice job John! I love the maps in particular, especially the lidar one, was a really nice addition. I haven't mountain biked in a long time, but I'm thinking maybe its time to give part of this trail a try. One quibble with the quote from the fellow at JORBA at the end of the article, "The...

    Christopher's Mill, Medford, NJ

Cynthia was nice enough to invite me out for a tour of her family's property today, and I suggested she might want to come here and share with the board. It's a wonderful property. The house itself is beautiful, and there are the remains of the summer kitchen next door, as well as the old...

Apple Pie Fire Tower - Fence/Gate being installed?

I'm glad I've taken both my kids up now. They won't remember it (they were 1 and 3 last time), but at least they've been. I talked to several of the spotters up top over the years. The one told me he came out one night and found people ON THE ROOF of the tower. If it's closed off, the...

New Jersey's 12 National Park sites

Wow, I've actually been to all 12! That said, I feel like it's double dipping with Washington-Rochambeau National Historic Trail and Morristown, but it is what it is. The Edison House and Great Falls are really great if anyone hasn't been up to see them.

    Downeast Maine

Maine is great. The drive down to Acadia will totally be worth it. Crowds should be really thinned out by then. Why not hike though, the trails aren't that ha... So, driving is nice too. :D

Heart of the Pines on Ebay for $55

Mine is signed (bought at Batsto right after it came back out) and has an "autographed copy" sticker on the front, so he must have signed a bunch of them.

Dot and Brooks Evert Memorial Nature Trail - Pemberton, NJ

Not this time! He's just about over his case from two weeks ago when we hiked at the Huber Preserve. He's been a real trooper about getting them. I can't wait for chigger and tick season to end...

Dot and Brooks Evert Memorial Nature Trail - Pemberton, NJ

Checked out the Evert Trail Preserve in Pemberton a few days ago. The trail is reported as usually being flooded, so I took a shot with how dry it has been, and guessed correctly (this time)! I love most that a big chunk of this trail is along boardwalks, but the highlight has to be the...
