ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I'm all for harassing Congress critters, but do they have any pull here with Wharton being a state park? List of state officials - http://www.camdencounty.com/government/elected-officials/state-new-jersey-officials

Crowley's Landing boat launch reopens tomorrow!

Was looking to book a campsite, and noticed this go up on the Wharton page: "We are pleased to announce that the Crowley's Landing Boat Launch, Mullica River, Wharton State Forest, will reopen on Saturday, July 25, 2015. The ramp was closed due to structural damage. Boat Launch Permits will not...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Also, what blows my mind - how is it possible that no one here knew about this? At the risk of inflating everyone's egos, this place is filled with brilliant folks who really have their fingers involved in nearly every facet of the pines (to go along with the dunderheads like me). My sense of...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I'm of two minds on this one. The first part of me is furious. We all know the truth - people are friggin' morons out there, and there are a lot of people out abusing things in the pines. The amount of trash hauled out at the annual cleanups easily shows that. Something needs to be done...

    Mid Summer Explore

I do NOT like that bug! Or at least not blown up to that size :)

    Vincentown Park Woods Trail

This trail is called Eagles' Walk, and has been pieced together by almost a dozen Boy Scouts for their Eagle Project (hence, Eagles' Walk). They've done everthing from the trail blazing, to the tree labels, to the parking lot, to the gardening. BSA Troop 31 - Vincenton -...

    My uncle, the Jersey Devil

Said it on Ben's review of Bill's book, definitely worth picking up.

    Free Fishing Day

No, but I do! For me, the worst possible thing that can happen during fishing is actually catching a fish. I purposely use the worst lures I can find that no fish would want. A perfect fishing expedition is meeting up with my buddy (who is constantly fiddling with everything to try to catch...

    An invasion?

Ouch, glad I'm home from the shore without seeing one of these suckers.

Land Rover's New Technology Lets You Drive With Your Smartphone

After watching the video, that's really cool. I totally can think of a few times I could have used that. Not enough to make paying whatever the price may be when it comes out make sense, but still pretty cool.

Blueberry picking at Franklin Parker Preserve

The boys and I'll be at this. We don't even like blueberries all that much, but we're camping at Bodine Saturday night, so it seems silly not to go around the corner and pick some blueberries.

    It's Blueberry time

Went to the Whitesbog one yesterday, first time going to that one. The family and I had a really good time despite the rain. I found a ripe one. New favorite antique engine. Old packing house. Made some new friends too. http://southjerseytrails.org/2015/06/28/blueberryfestival2015/

Is this the beginning of the end for the Pinelands?

Not much new there, but excellent overview.

    Free Fishing Day

That's great! Think I'll take the kid fishing in October, I didn't really want to buy a license this year for something he might hate and only want to do for a half hour.

    Front coming thru today

I can't believe how many folks I know are still without power! I was very lucky, we never lost power for a minute. Is this a sign of how bad this front was, a sign of how run down the infrastructure is, of how bad the tree trimming is, or a little bit of everything?

    Mullica River Trail reblazed already

Have to give Wharton their due here, the Mullica River Trail through the burned out areas at Atsion is already reblazed. They didn't waste much time with that one. It also never ceases to amaze me how fast the green comes back in after the fire. Proud of my three year old, this was...

    Question about the Shaler Grave

CCC Camp would certainly make a lot of sense, and they'd need the materials.

    Especially for Kayak Karl...

I'm excited. Wild turned out really well, I'm hoping for another quality one (of course, a lot sillier). But really, how long until we get a Batona Trail movie?
