Tom,
I believe what you are decribing is this road/bridge:
This pix was taken last Fall. The planks of the bridge, if we can call it that, were not covered with water. I have been there a couple of times when it was. Even when it's not covered the water is right at the bottom of the...
Magellan MapSend Topo update:
I finally broke down and got it. I must say I am very pleased with it. I've up-loaded all of S. Jersey to my Maridian and still have room for 3 more regions if I need them.
The software as used on the computer is rather weak in my opinion. The maps are low...
Guy, great artical! I remember that swath cut out in the trees from when I used to visit Bear Swamp in the 70's. One of these days I'll take the hike to look for the landing gear.
Glossy Spung Rd is the road that takes you from Hampton Furnace to Carenza Rd. It's one of my favorite roads because the scenery along it is so beautiful. It runs along and old bog that has been reclaimed. There is a road the runs on the west side of the bog too but it is very narrow, a real...
Hampton Furnace
Yes, the cover picture for my album here is of the road you just described. There actually is a bridge there. It's just under water a good deal of the time.
My friend, who is a fireman, heard over the scanner that there is a 4 alarm fire at the Zink factory off of Savoy Rd. I don't know if it's just the buildings or if the forrest is involved.
Yes He did, as caretakers. So we really do need to be careful how we treat our charges. He also gave parents dominion over their children but we can't just kill them off to get a spare room. I've thought about it...........but no.
Actually, Beck could have been refering to the pond that is just a little south/east (by an 1/8th of a mile) of the clay mines. We had a discusion about this pond about a month or so ago.
Well, I took a 50 +/- mile ride today to Matt's Riverside Pizza in Green Bank to pick up a copy of 'Heart of the Pines'. My buddy payed $47.00 for it about 2 weeks ago. While he was there he told the guy that the book was out of print and hard to find. THANKS BUDDY!!!! I had to shell out $58.00...
A correction on my earlier post about topo maps. I was just talking to my buddy and he told me that he got the topos at the Atsion Ranger station.
My bad.
My buddy just bought 'Heart of the Pines' in Green Bank at, of all places, a Pizza shop. He said they also had topos for 4 bucks each, folded not rolled. Sorry, I don't know the name of the shop but he said it was near the bridge.
I think He may have been talking about 2-way radios. I bought a pair of Midland G-227's. They do come in pretty handy. Saves a lot of shouting back and forth.
Oh swell, I have close to a thousand photos and only a couple that I think would be worthy. I'll run out this week and shoot a Pulitzer Prize winner!
Always being the cynic, I think this publishing company has found a good way of getting it's material for free. I may try to get...
