Escapee loose in the Pine Barrens

Just heard on the news that they caught him on an island near the camp site. So many places to hide in the Pines and he stays near the scene. Well I guess I don't need to carry my buck knife on me anymore.

    Planting trees

I just came across this area yesterday. The 1st sign is on Allen Rd. halfway between Stage Rd and Bartletts Bridge. Turn right at the sign and you come upon a hugh clearing where I saw this sign. The 1st sign seemed to be almost new or it was protected by the beautiful young pines...

    Enthusiasts site finished???

I was just over there reading some of the posts. It's interesting to see the references to 'Hidden Lakes' by a few members. Of course we all know it as 'Old Half Way' now. As I've stated in past posts, my interest in the Pines started 30 years ago although for different reasons. It seems the...

    ticks

I think what they were talking about was ' Tick Paralysis' which is unrelated to Lymes. It was on the news a couple of days ago about two little girls getting it. Here's a link: http://www.nbc10.com/health/2372739/detail.html

I finally recognize the 4th tool. It is used to dig out the roots of weeds. How could I forget? My Grandfather had me use that on every Dandilion on his 1 acre+ property once! Guy, you may be correct but I see no evidence of hooks.

Only the 4th object is a mystery. The 1st is a garden shears. The 2nd a pair of snips and the 3rd is a spade.

Kayaking becomes sport of choice in paddle battle

Once you go Kayak there's no going bayak. I've used my buddy's sit on kayak in the ocean but I think the sit in type is more practical for the river.

    New tags

Well I finally got a pix of my new tags and NJPineBarrens sticker posted. More people need to get these Pinelands tags. I got mine about 3 months after a friend got his and there is only a spread of about 230 between them.

    Sppedwell/Hampton Furnace

Tom, I don't think Guy said there was nothing to see, he said he didn't see anything. There is a big difference. I didn't spend a lot of time there because I also had another agenda. I walked the area to the left of the bridge between Glossy Spung and the bridge. I did see some depressions but...

    Sppedwell/Hampton Furnace

Looks great! Sorry I haven't posted a pix. I'll put one up soon. I spent all last weekend compounding and waxing the 'Piney Stripes' out of my Escape os we took my buddies Darango. We were there around 11:30 also. I guess we just missed each other. Did you see the Land Rover group?

    Sppedwell/Hampton Furnace

Are you saying to cross the bridge and walk to the 'T' intersection and make a left? How far from this shot were the structures? Steve

    Sppedwell/Hampton Furnace

I was there today also. I looked around for about 15 - 20 minutes and did not find any foundations. I did see some depressions that could possibly be cellar hole. Steve
