More trees cut off of Quaker Bridge Road

Tree Removal has been going on at the RR tracks and Quaker Bridge Road for awhile now. It was being done by a commercial company, I didn't note the name. They widened an old road and this morning I decided to explore it. It eventually led to the Sewell Gun Club. There was a large tree blocking...

    Francisco Sarabia, the other Carranza

Last fall while reading the July issue of EAA Sport Aviation, I came upon a short article about a famous race plane from the 1930's. It was about the restoration of the Gee Bee Special , the Q.E.D., with a mention of its last owner, Mexican pilot Francisco Sarabia. Up until the time of it's...

    Snake in the road

Yesterday I found this beauty in the middle of the road, about 18 inches. I wish I could have gotten better pictures but there were cars coming and we just made it. Am I really seeing diagonal stripes? What is it? We are seeing lots of turtles too. Red belly, spotted and box. Turkey Beard...

    Road work

Last week I noticed work on Carranza Road to Friendship. Bull dozers, loader and comercial dump trucks with fill. At least it's compactable fill not sand which would just move again. A decient job way overdo. They also worked on the road from 532 @ Bordentown Gun Club to the little, but sturdy...

    Forked River Mountains Tour

On Wednesday I met up with Deepexplorer to visit an area we rarely see. We met at Wells Mills Park and then from there headed down Jones Road to find the mountain. That road needs some serious maintainance. We didn't know the roads so we just winged it, taking any road that headed in the right...

    Penn Branch Mountain Bike Trail

Last summer we did allot of hiking off of Push Line Road in the no mans land between Mannis Duck Pond and Jemima Mount. The area is high, with little water and few flies. While walking down one of the little used roads I barely noticed a subtle trail. It was obviously not a deer trail, had seen...

    Friendship Bogs washouts
