Cedar Bridge tavern to be 'enhanced'

Well, the tavern is already wired for electric, since it was a private residence up until fairly recently. I think they can probably do HVAC fairly unobtrusively. Having the inside climate controlled will preserve the building really well. Look at the Atsion mansion - it's falling apart again...

Pinelands Commission to Consider Wharton MAP

Again it's just very sneaky. Rather than partner with all of the other users of the forest to come up with a workable plan the PPA tries to do an end run around the DEP and jam their own plan down the commission's throat. This is the same commission that they frequently fight against for other...

    Robot on a PBX

My daughter just watched this and after the robot walked out the door she said "I hate this job."

    Big storm

The tide was the highest I've ever seen at the Atlantic Highlands marina this morning when I boarded the ferry. It was quite an unpleasant ride into New York.

    Concrete Ship

The Atlantus was another thing that I was fascinated with as a kid that got me hooked on Jersey history. This website might not exist had it not been for that ship.

    Bottle hunting reccomendations

Legions of archaeologists will disagree with you. It's because so much of our past has been preserved by being buried in the ground that we know as much as we do about what life in the past was like. As for the "no real dollar value" - sure, it might not have a monetary value, but in 300 years...

    Save H2O NJ

I just noticed something: the Save H2O NJ site (essentially a shill for the PPA) makes no mention of the pipelines, so far as I could see. Why is the PPA fighting so hard to block peoples' access* to the state forest but now has become totally silent on the pipelines? The cynic in me might...

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

It's a grey area of copyright law. I'm sure they're claiming that their images are derivative works based on the way that they're stitched together and the interface to view them. If the images were originally created for the government then they're in the public domain. The original images...

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

I don't pull anything from MSR maps anymore (they're shut down) so besides what Google offers everything is in the public domain as far as I know.

If you do a shift+reload it should load a fresh copy of the page and bypass whatever you have cached.

No. I like them so I'll have to check them out. Their covers are pretty fun.

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

Whoops. I was rushing this morning and I didn't update the URL so it was pulling the 2007 maps instead of the 2012. When you zoom in you can see the people hanging out in front of the packing house now.

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

I've added the 2012 NJGIN imagery in. You'll need to clear your cache/force reload to get them to show. Hold down shift while you press the reload button in your browser. On Safari on my Mac I had to do it twice before the changes would load. Edit: Boyd, do you know of a WMS service URL for...

    They just won't stop

From what I understand many PPA/NJCF people showed up as well as a number of OTNJ/pro access people. It was a calm and professional meeting. I would have loved to have gone, but 9:30AM on a weekday is when most people have to be at work. (I don't understand how the Pinelands Commission can...
