    Abandoned Farm in Williamstown?

Even in a recession things are still being torn down left and right. I looked into why this is going on so much and read that NJ has an act that helps out property owners with demolishing old structures for future land development. I guess a lot of people want to jump on that deal before it goes...

    Lock's Bridge

Very interesting. I'm sure it's possible. Most of the slag I saw around there looked like furnace slag, but I'm sure there could be some forge slag hiding around. Probably in the bushes! Lol It is a great spot for any thing to be water wheel driven. When the water levels drop in later in the...

    Lock's Bridge

Just a note on this place... on the southern side where all the paths go through that lead to the Mullica River Wilderness Camp, there is a small cleared area down by the water. This is about 75 yards south of the actual old bridge abutment site. In the pool of water on the edge is a huge piece...

Then and Now.....The Accident of the Blue Comet Train

It is a neat site to visit. You can always park near Rt. 563 in Chatsworth and walk South from there. I believe the milepost is roughly .7 miles from where the tracks disappear into the woods behind the old station there. The station and water tower base are neat to see, and there is the Wading...

    Dock ruins on the Mullica

Cool find Gabe. I'm guessing it could have been an older (30's - 60's maybe) boat winch/dock. Almost like a sort of permanent boat trailer with a hand crank connected to a cable at the end. The low water and thick mud there might have made getting to the shore a little tough in the boat but...

    Weird cat building in Atsion

If I remember right there is a mountain of old rusty cat food cans back there along with a lot of other bottles and trash. Someone is/was definitely feeding them.

    Tucker's Isle

This is all very interesting and thanks for the info. I made a trip out to the island just north of Brigantine a while back. Pullen Island I think it's called. It's neat to be able to see the ocean without a ton of houses in your way! And the rest of the set here -...

The Lure of the Land - A photographic journey through the pine barrens, New Jersey’s

Damn, sorry I missed this Chase. I just made a sticky note to remind myself of the Feb 13th showing and I'll try to make it out. Good work man!

    Jumbo, Oldmans Twp

Jumbo Awesome. Looks like it would definitely be a cool area to check out. I'm sure there's all sorts of odd bits left laying around. Need a boat? Looks like there's one washed up on the north side of the creek right near the RR bridge! Bring the bilge pump!

    Green Bank Inn

Green Bank Tavern Been there a few times myself. It's a nice bar and the food is great after a day of exploring. I pick and choose my visits because the biker crowd are not usually fans of Kawasakis. The subs across the street are pretty good too.

Have you seen this road? Can you help me find this?

As stated, that's not the railroad, but there was however a railroad that ran near there. If you check the sattelite photos it ran parallel to Lacey Rd. in a straight line right from Whiting to Rt. 9. Separated by the Parkway of course.

    NJPineBarrens.com in 2011

Just my 2 cents about Flickr since I use it so much. It is a very easy online photo manager. I checked out a bunch of them before I joined in 2007, and I liked the layout and ease of use Flickr had the most. You can also copy and paste the code to link photos into the forum threads which is...

Makepeace Lake water levels and a question

It is a neat place out there. I know you can check the level of the lake at the spillway right at the road where you can park. That's a good point about it being used to blueberry farmers, there's a couple small dikes and dams back in the woods behind the lake, so it might have also been used...

    9th annual pine barrens cleanup!

Sounds like a good time. I know I made an obligation to go camping up in North Jersey sometime in October, but if it's not during this cleanup, I'll def be there. I have a 2wd truck and a trailer, but if were heading through the crazy stuff, I can bring my dual sport.

    Exploring Wharton Today

Guy, what a difference the heat has made (as it usually does) to the water level compared to this past spring! Very cool before and after with that trestle photo too!

    Millville Bunkers Destroyed?

Thanks for the info on the target practice, that explains the bullet holes in many of the bunkers. And yeah, I did see the clearings in front of some of them. There were berms all over the place behind the bunkers, I'm guessing to protect equipment or whatever was stored back there. Either way...

    Mapping out Wharton

Seems like a cool project. It might take forever, but look at the bright side - you will be a walking gps by the time you're done!

    Fire in Bass River

Yeah, I smelled that one this morning, but I did not see any smoke. I ride that section of forest along the expressway all the time, and usually travel down Blue Anchor Rd. to get to work. I did pass 4 cops in that area this morning with lights flashing but I don't know if that was connected or not.

    Millville Bunkers Destroyed?

Rode out to Millville after work yesterday to see if I could find those bunkers. I approached from the east off of Rt. 555 and walked maybe 1/2 mile down a small trail and came to 6 bunkers on my right side. They're covered with trees pretty good, but it's easy to see them from the mapping...
