    Forest fire in Barnegat

Man, this thread is making me laugh. I hear you with some people going overboard, and it does look odd when people move out to the pines and do that. I would love to live in the pines. I grew up in Mullica Twp. on a plot with 20 acres, and I live in a condo now in a busy community. I just don't...

    Millville Bunkers Destroyed?

Thanks for clearing that up Al. I got sick to my stomach when I looked at the map on their website that showed part of phase two going south of Buckshutem Rd. I'm glad they will be saved, even with the development. It seems that so many places have been destroyed within the past few years. The...

    Millville Bunkers Destroyed?

I've been meaning to drive down to the wildlife management area just south of the Millville airport to see the long lost WWII bunkers for some time. A friend was just asking the other day where the Millville Motorsports park was located and when I checked the map on their website I saw that...

    A day to pay honor.....

A shame indeed. Not all, but more and more young people seem to care less, and less about these kinds of things. Here's to the few that do care.

    A day to pay honor.....

Here's to them. Bachman, those are some awesome photos. I didn't see them uploaded on Flickr. Very nice work.

    Mercury bites the dust....

Guy, is it an automatic, or a manual? If it's a manual, it could be the bolts where the engine meets the tranny. If those bolts get loose, or the engine mounts get loose, it puts uneven pressure where the clutch meets the plates and doesn't enable them to grip each other right causing slippage...

    Bright Blue Lakes

Pretty interesting. I thought I read somewhere that back in the old glass making days, the blowers would add iron to the melted glass to give it an aqua tinge. I always thought that something in that chemically created the blue to be reflected back. Pine barrens water is pretty darn rich in...

    Acagisca

I always wondered what the story behind that place was. Curiosity got the best of me one day and I decided to take a drive through. I saw a ranger in there and waved and he motioned me to stop. He told me without a permit I shouldn't have even been driving through there. Weird I thought, I guess...

You can't make this stuff up.....

Yeah, definitely tipped off about that. They probably ruined the place back there, but who knows. I'm sure they filled their years quota in that one night with all those tickets. lol

    Amatol reports and mapping

Boyd, your map is correct, with that one final sand road before the curve being the boundary between the private area and the WMA.

    Amatol reports and mapping

Looks like you're having fun over the Gipsie. As for those trenches - the ones in the really long rectangular buildings were for the conveyor belts. Some of the bigger pouring and cooling buildings only have a shelf where one side of the belt could be accessed by someone standing to roll the...

    Bending or Breaking the rules

Interesting thread. I'll have to say, there's no way I'm not peeing in the woods out there. I'll at least do my best to keep it out of the rivers. lol. I witnessed a couple of kids trying to bend/break the rules by riding quads through Wharton near Batsto last weekend. They were surrounded by 2...

Apple Pie Hill Tower Smashed Again

Dropping Things Wow, that is a great idea. Kind of like a "if you can't beat em, join em" attitude. I don't think the state would go for it though. To much of a liability letting that many people climb up the tower with old appliances. Only one TV would need to be dropped on the next person in...

How Much Does A Rattlesnake Bite Cost?

Wow, that is insane. I hope they had insurance. I noticed that the snake only rattled after it bit her. There was no warning before the strike even with her making all sorts of noise in the garden. That seems pretty scary.

Stale Beer and Blossoming Blueberry Bushes

Ha! Yeah, Gabe loves beer! I have no idea why it smells like that, and it's looking like most of the blossoms are gone now. I didn't smell it comming home last night. It really smells like the old beer at the bottom of the recycling can. Weird.

    Trashing the pines

Guy - that is an awesome cleanup job you guys did. That really looked like a lot of stuff. I kind of feel weird about publicizing stuff like that though. It kind of sends out a message of "dump trash, it will eventually be cleaned up by someone anyway." I don't know, kind of a tough topic I...

    Caution!

There's been a couple shots of trucks stuck in the tons of ruts on the motorcycle forums. The water is starting to clear out finally, but all that sticky mud is still hiding underneath. I guess the rainy season is followed by shovel / winch season. lol.

Stale Beer and Blossoming Blueberry Bushes

Has anyone else ever noticed that the blossoming blueberry bushes smell like stale old beer? I've been noticing it more and more in the last few weeks or so. Give them a whiff. I've also been smelling some local planted crops that smell like grapefruit.
