    Batona Trail hike

That's how I did it, several one day hikes usually covering anywhere from 6-10 miles at a time. We started at Ong's hat and are going to finish the last 8 miles this weekend. My favorite parts so far have been any section that takes me close to water. I especially liked the short section...

    Question

So far, in my limited explorations, Harrisville is my favorite historic site in the pines. A very good choice for an interesting place to see. I don't know where you'd get one without buying a book but I recommend a map of Harrisville so you can really get a feel for what you are looking at...

    Mullica Hike

I'm not one to brag about myself but I was feeling pretty proud yesterday. I was more tired than proud when I finished so, that's why it took me a day to write that. Thanks Guy.

    Mullica Hike

A year ago yesterday, I had my lower right leg amputated. Yesterday, I hiked from Atsion to Batsto along the Mullica trail. I stopped a few times to take in the sights and take in a few gnats with my lunch. I highly recommend the Mullica trail as a place for amputees to rehab, especially the...

    Batona Question(s)

I thought that's the area TO was describing. I have some waders but I know I don't want to wear them for 8 miles. I'll see if they fit over my prosthetic and if they do, maybe I'll pack them in. Thanks for the pic Guy. Jay

    Ancient Cedar Logs

What a great thread! We're always checking out the history above the swamps and it's great to know there is so much below it too. Whenever you complain about having to do something physical, just think hom hard those guys must have worked every day. Thanks Furball and Jerseyman. Jay

    Batona Question(s)

You pegged it right on the money TO. Nice little duck pond where the trail splits. Thanks for the heads up on how wet the next section is. One other question while I have your attention, sneaks cut it on the Mullica River Trail? Thanks, Jay

I'll kick in my $300 federal bribe but I want a bar seat.

    Batona Question(s)

This past weekend a couple friends and I were hiking the Batona from Batsto to 679 and somewhere between swamp above Bulltown and Washington Road we discovered that the trail actually split. We thought it was a little strange and wondered which was the correct trail, the north trail or the...

Girl's Body found in Bass River State Forest

It's such a shame that all of the people here can view the Pines as a beautiful place to be enjoyed while this monster only saw it as a place where he could get away with a horrible act. May she rest in peace.

    Shoes

Well, the sneakers worked pretty well today from Batsto to 679. One small wet area but otherwise, another great day to be in the pines. I'm a little tired but I'm looking forward to the last eight miles of the Batona on Saturday, weather permitting. Since I'll be wearing sneakers, I was...

Wharton SF this weekend April 5 & 6

Sounds like a great event MP. It's good to see horses in the pines occasionally. Almost like a step back in time. Why aren't they allowed to water at Hawkins Bridge? I guess if a large number of them water, there will be a pretty large amount of processed hay eh? Have fun and stay safe.

    Stage road in New Gretna

Maybe with the new local taxes it can be paved in gold.

    Bridge Pilings

I don't want to do anything illegal. If it's mostly pine branches hanging over, I can knock them back with my walking stick.

    Bridge Pilings

Thanks Guy. I'll be out there this weekend. I'm curious to see if there is much evidence of the road on the Evans bridge side. I was on the Harrisville side and could see the road heading straight towards Harrisville even though it looked very overgrown. One question, what are the rules on...

    Envrionmental Forum Stockton College

So, you are saying that if Nader had never been a candidate, you wouldn't have voted? That's fine but I personally have a different opinion. We'll just have to agree to disagree. I do have to wonder how things would be now if the winner had won.
