    What constitutes the Pine Barrens?

From what I've read of the 20's and early 30's, I would have thought stills if there weren't so many of them. Charcoal pits is probably a better answer. Or crop circles.

    ticks

Thanks for the info on Forestry Suppliers. I ordered Permanone last Thursday and it came in Tuesday's mail. I've never used it, I hope to try it out this weekend.

History of Enduro racing in the Pines.

Whoop de doos I found a lake on a topo once and got this brainy idea to drive to it in my car. Now I know what the name of the "car killers" are :)

Eureka Gun Club, Black's Bridge, Etc.

Boyd, Thanks for the link. I checked it and it looks like after hours fishing is in. Also to Jeff, Winslow is the regional headquarters for WMA's so if you're going to get checked anywhere, it would be Winslow! I've had wardens talk to me while they are on patrol alot. There are 2 ponds, the one...

Eureka Gun Club, Black's Bridge, Etc.

Was the area he was fishing a state Wildlife Management Area? I fish Winslow WMA often and the best time to fish is at night as the lake is spring fed and very clear. The fish usually don't bite during the day. I've never been fined, but I think I should check the regulations.

Revisiting the Burned Area at Warren Grove

I also stood on the washing machine (pretty sad to use trash as a land mark, only in Jersey I guess) and took some pictures 5 days after the fire. I had planned to go out in the fall to check it out again, but after viewing the photos, I think I'll go sooner. Thanks for posting the pictures.

The Great Egg Harbor River with the Pinelands Commission

I prefer a canoe, I normally fish from one. You can stretch out a lot more in them, plus I don't own a kayak, I'd have to rent or borrow. My thinking was for portaging. If I'm by myself, I can't lift the canoe anymore (a.g.e. disease) for portaging. I've rented kayaks with my daughter to do the...

The Great Egg Harbor River with the Pinelands Commission

My son and I canoed the part where the website says "below Winslow Road" on Memorial Day weekend, the year before last. We had to portage 4 or 5 times over downed trees, and 1 stretch we walked in the stream for about 50 or 60 yards. Unless more trees have fallen, it was mostly passable. It is...

Calico ( Highway To Hell )

Darn! The secret's out. Guess I'll have to find somewhere else to sleep now!

Calico ( Highway To Hell )

When I'm out on any warm day in the pines, one of the first things I almost always take is a deep breath of that pitch pine scent. Also, an added plus for my summer fishing trips is a dip in whatever stream or lake I happen to be on. A nap is usually included at some point also. If you ever see...

Calico ( Highway To Hell )

I can't say that I know all the names, but I really enjoy being on the lakes and streams when the water plants are blooming. I need to get a field guide, a camera, and learn how to use it. Friday there were what I've always called "water lillies" in full bloom. They were as perfect as I've seen...

Calico ( Highway To Hell )

I had a good day fishing, 6 bass and 2 pickerel. The bass were on the small side, but the pickerel were pretty nice. The fog was pretty thick and hung around until around 9:30, so it stayed fairly cool. All in all, a very pleasant trip.

The Great Egg Harbor River with the Pinelands Commission

Jeff, If you want a more natural, undeveloped section of that river, the section upstream from where you paddled is very pretty. I've canoed from Winslow Road to Piney Hollow Road, very nice but it is definitely not maintained, you'll have to portage some. It goes through Winslow WMA so there...

Calico ( Highway To Hell )

I agree on that one! I went fishing on Friday, from around 5:30 am and was done by 10:00am. The flies were really bad and later it got hot. I can't stay home though, with everything in bloom.

    Chatsworth Club......

Welcome to the site Bob. I fished Chatsworth for many years. Redfin Pickerel? I never caught one anywhere, that was a good catch. Not sure about the electric trolling motors, you should check their web site. There are a lot of stumps though, paddling may be better. I also am glad to see it open...

I went to photos, member galleries, clicked the A, then went to Autumn Mist's directory. There was a seperate directory for fire pictures.

    A big Disapointment

Jeff, The same thing happened to us years ago. I can say from experience that even though you're disappointed now, these things tend to work out in the long run. After our seller backed out, we eventually found a house more suited to us. Hang in there.
