OK, thanks everyone. Chigger bites are the worst itch I've ever felt. They truly are little devils! Years ago, before permithrin, I wore chest waders to walk to my deer stand just to avoid Chigger bites.

Same here. I went outside at 11:00 because I had heard the Space Station would be visable, but didn't see it. At around 11:45 a line of clouds moved in and blocked everything. Maybe tonight will be better.

Thanks for the pictures, Boyd. I had off on Tuesday and drove out to Atsion, but there was still a lot of fire service activity and I didn't want to get in the way so I went elsewhere. Also, the flies were unbelievable! I hope to check again on Sunday.

I haven't noticed any in Winslow area either, but I still keep out of the high grass. Last week we camped in Virginia (Eastern Shore on the Chesepeake) and there were some ticks, but not a lot.

I also make my own preserves (Jersey blueberry is my favorite). They all need a lot of sugar to set. My wife uses the wild cherries, if we can find them, to make pie. She said the wild sour cherries make the best cherry pie.
