Plan to put gas pipeline in Pinelands spurs ire

Or maybe buy the Holly Farm. The pipeline will still go in, they will just make it go through an area that is not in the "Pinelands" but should have been in the "Pinelands".

    Savoy Blvd construction

I never understood why some of the sand plants don't utilize the railroad. The railroad tracks go right by the mines in Tuckahoe, but everything is moved by truck. I would think it would be more efficient to move large amounts of material to Pennsylvania by rail.

Plan to put gas pipeline in Pinelands spurs ire

Sometimes you have to pick your battles, the gas conversion is a positive step forward. One article I read stated that portions of the pipeline will be buried nearly 50 feet deep! The existing railroad right-of-way that services the power plant could also be removed to make up for any...

South Jersey lawyer drowns on the Oswego

The same thing nearly happened to a friend of mine, fortunately we were able to pull her up to safety. I don't know if it is more dangerous to wear a life preserve sometimes because they can easily catch on a submerged object.

    NJ Camping

I like having this option. Wharton is so big that it is easier to the spend the 9.25 and go directly to the campsite than to Batsto first for most of the camping areas. Although, I understand that it is alot of money for a couple people camping. We reserved a group site last weekend for 10...

$9.7 million to preserve 5,000 acres of woodlands and wetlands

The Cape May County Museum has a stuffed one which was found in Cape May Courthouse many years ago. That is as far south as the Pinelands go and is 20 miles south of Lenape property. There is also a live one but its in the zoo.

    Fire breaks

Since we are discussing fire suppression and pre-suppression practices, it is important to note we are rapidly approaching the 50th anniversary of April 20-22, 1963 where 193,000 acres burned, seven people died and 186 homes were destroyed in one weekend.

I'm stuck in a puddle and can't get out!

The difference between the kids getting stuck today and those of us in our late 30s and up was that we didn't have the option of calling our buddies for help on a cell phone. I am sure most of us remember a cold wet hike looking for help.
