    Governor Corzine Crashes the Pines...Literally

And why would we have a reckless driver, special needs or not, allowed to drive? The guy should have some consequences for what he did. Mannnn. This is gonna be some storm.

If he caused the accident, why is he not being charged? Interesting.

    Governor Corzine Crashes the Pines...Literally

Wow. A compound femur fracture. Doesn't get much worse than that. Poor guy. I cannot imagine what it would be like to look down and see my femur poking out of my skin.

    Governor Corzine Crashes the Pines...Literally

Wow! Twelve fractured ribs? I didn't even think we HAD twelve ribs. Poor guy. Nothing hurts worse than a broken rib, but that AND a broken sternum? Sheesh!

To Side, or not to Side

I'm with Boyd. I had cedar clapboards on my last house and it was a great siding material. If I were to decide to live in my current house for years and years, I would want to side it with cedar. Since we will probably sell it in a few years like you, I will keep the aluminum siding, icky as it...

    Governor Corzine Crashes the Pines...Literally

Okay, seriously, what IS it with NJ governors and their broken legs? Isn't this like the third gov in a row to break his or her leg in an ugly way? Sheesh!

    Solar flares disrupting GPS reception

Hm. Mine too. I was thinking that we needed to move the antenna. Seems okay this morning.

    A Rare Monday Outing

You know, we were there Saturday, and it looked to me like the ruins were significantly more crumbled than they were last summer. Was that my imagination?

    Atsion schoolhouse and some cats!

Thanks, Guy, I appreciate the info! I try not to be nosy, I really do. But you all know how it is, finding cool stuff in the woods. :) It was such a great day to be out Saturday, it was sunny and snowy all at the same time, and despite the cold, it is very apparent that the pines are...

    Atsion schoolhouse and some cats!

No problem. Like I said, when I realized what it was, I got the heck outta dodge. I'm probably putting my nose in where people just don't want it, so I have no intention of digging further! I just thought it was an interesting spot right there in the middle (or, rather, on the edge) of state...

    Atsion schoolhouse and some cats!

I read some of the TWP meeting minutes since posting this thread. It almost looks like someone is living in that house. The pines just never cease to amaze me.

    Atsion schoolhouse and some cats!

:v: Oh. Sorry. I am *so* not a car person. It was a Rambler, cause that's what it says on the steel dashboard. From the photos that I came up with in Google, it looks like I have the year pretty much right on the nose. How did I do that? I guess it's cause I'm a 1963 model myself.

    Atsion schoolhouse and some cats!

We apparently went where we weren't supposed to go. We looked around the old school at Atsion, then spotted a burnt-out old house nearby and investigated. It has a 1930s electric stove in the middle, cool! Then into the area where a ca. 1963 Ford Rambler station wagon sits and rots. That was...

    pheasent sighting

I see pheasants all the time up here in Mercer and Hunterdon counties. They are apparently making a comeback, or there are a lot of ferals or something. Whenever I see them, they're always running down the road like joggers.

    Kayaking

Whoo doggie, are you in for a treat. :) Start with Atsion Lake, putin at N 39.44.787 W 74.45.853. Paddling through the ponds is a truly amazing experience. Another great spot is Batsto Lake, if you have a GPS, the coordinates for the putins are near 39.660 W 074° 39.131. These coords are...

    Mountain Biking

Speaking of being shot at, make sure you wear blaze orange during hunting season. If you're not sure when that is, wear it anyway. We got vests at Harrys Army/Navy for like 5 bucks.

    Mountain Biking

And hecks yeah, use a GPS! It's not hard to get lost, and it's a big place. A GPS or at least some reliable navigation tool is essential, and a cell phone is even better, although sometimes reception is spotty. As for undesirables, (other than myself and the fine people of this forum), I...

    Bass River Bigfoot

Silly Behr, the body was probably hauled off to some secret government site and studied in top secret conditions. :ninja:

I hate when it happens (contrails)

How are they solved by flying lower? The planes will use more fuel that way.

Plane wreckage at Bear Swamp Hill

Yeah, it's definitely there. Worth looking for, the swamp is a great place to explore. Better now than in chigger season. I got the worst bites ever looking for that site. Be sure to look for the remains of the tower, and the bathrooms nearby! Weird ruin, it took me a minute to figure out what...
