Haddonfield - after the great flood?

However it will work out for us in NJ, I am comforted that we have boats. :)

Haddonfield - after the great flood?

According to Gore's slide show, sea level would rise 20 feet.

    warm weather

I was thinking about this winter in general. Sort of a dud, don't you think? I had my house flood three times in two years, the "50 year flood" sort of event. I lived there for 15 years with no problems. Maybe it's just chance, but the data presented certainly has given me pause.

    warm weather

Have you seen it? It's about global warming, and why it's happening. To say it's scary is an understatement. It's terrifying.

I just watched An Inconvenient Truth. Puts this winter into a whole different light.

Yep, that was Challenge. It's short but I LOVE it. On a non-crowded day, I can do that run over and over and over until I collapse from exhaustion. The 30 below conditions, I remember having a day like at Mt Snow a few years ago that made me go out and spend a lot of $$ on a really...

    warm weather

*sigh* I miss skiing. I used to go to Blue Mt. every weekend that I didn't go to Killington. Until I messed up my knee a couple of years ago. I love that big open run at Blue with the high speed quad chair at the bottom. I would try and go all the way to the bottom without braking at all, skis...

I wonder if they have a preference for hardwood trees, and that's why you don't see a whole lot of affected trees? There just aren't that many hardwood trees in the pines. When I was a kid, the 17 year cicadas hit my hometown. They were EVERYWHERE. Every tree was covered with the casts. The...

    cacoon

It's hard to see from this angle, but they appear to be the skin casts from cicadas. The nymphs emerge from the ground and climb up on the trunk of trees, then they split open and a winged adult emerges. The skin cast/shell is left behind.

    Chicken in the pines

People can be pretty crappy. Anyone been to Sandy Ridge lately? Looks like someone backed up a truck to one of the cellar pits and totally filled it with old appliances and other assorted household garbage. We usually take several trash bags out with us, too. It never ends though. Last summer...

    Chicken in the pines

I find deer gut piles aaaaaall the time. I don't really think a whole lot of it since they are likely to be consumed quickly by animals and/or bacteria. It's the beer cans everywhere that really bug me.

    Pine Barrens Ecology?

Thank you, Bob! OCC is sort of a hike for me, (I live in Ewing), but I'll see what I can do. The class sounds perfect.

    Pine Barrens Ecology?

Happy New Year, Piney Folks! Has anyone here taken or heard of a biology/ecology course offered at a community or regular college (or anywhere else, for that matter) that focuses on the Pine Barrens? I would love to take such a course, but can't seem to find one. Often, schools don't...

Yeah, it's a short, easy walk from the road, maybe 500 feet at the most. It's worth it. :)
