Slow to fight southern pine beetles

Possibly related, but what are the Lee bros doing off speedwell on the road up to Harris station/pinecrest. It looks really good, opening up forest. I still think if dead trees are left and allowed to rot out it provides great habitat. Pines needs to be thinned in a major way, if pine beetle...

    Recommend a Trail Camera

I've switched fully over to plotwatcher cameras but the standard Moultrie ones work pretty good from my experience. But everything I've bought had been at least 100 bucks, some of the real cheap ones are pretty terrible.

    Questionable behavoir by a birder

Yeah Al, this photo he had was pure stupidity. Apparently he is a nice guys just a dumb ass attention type. I actually emailed him via flickr expressing my issues, he seem niave and somewhat of a clown. Hopefully he learned his lesson. I'll try to post the picture if I remember, I screenshot...

    Questionable behavoir by a birder

Yeah same guy as with the rattlesnake. He seems to catch crap from every group but not really care. The hobby seems to be about him, he is a showman, typical dipshit from my generation who tries to be an internet superstar. Usually I won't report someone just for picking up a snake, I mean...

    Questionable behavoir by a birder

I think I may know the person you are describing. There was also another guy, maybe same person who had a rattlesnake pinned and holding its tail in front of its face screaming at it like it was a microphone. I reported that person to fish and game.

    Bobwhite reintroduction

http://mobile.philly.com/news/local/?wss=/philly/news/local&id=278918901& I've been fortunate to see two quail and heard a handful over the years. Down in pitssgrove while golfing I've heard a few, such a nice sound. Also saw two off glade road years ago. Seems like a good program, kudos to...

    Dead Rattlesnake

For a snake it doesn't take much to kill it. Me and Gibby found a similar dor, I actually stopped to get it across but it was on its way out. This time of year they are mating so unfortunately males get hit. A pretty classic pinebrake right there.

    August Wildlife Watching Questions

PBTF are abundant, tiger salamanders are endangered and their locations are kept secret due to their sensitivity. Regarding snakes most people on here wont give out locations to find them, again given their rare or sensitive nature. Best bet is to put in some sweat equity and explore by trial...

I didn't really read through their site, what exactly are they doing wrong? Are they vandalizing sites or just exposing them?

    Bevan WMA Forest Fire

had a gut feeling based on the vegatation and there was a load of leopard frogs there. They were the prettier leopard frog tho and there was sundews and pitcher plant. I still considered it a longshot but my gut was right.

    Bevan WMA Forest Fire

Al, I'm glad the PBTFs are ok. I gotta get down there this year, don't think I've visited that spot in 5 years. First time I went there I was shocked because its not fully blown barrens. I remember it was about 11 o'clock and I was about to turn around when the rain started and I heard this...

    Bevan WMA Forest Fire

Curious to know how many crispy turtles Whip will find. The box turtles are up but at nights tucking into leaves, I think these fires in are going to do a number on them. Although i think they will tuck in and just end up with a burnt shell. Bevan one concerns me tho.

NJ Forest Fire Impacts 30 Acres

Ed when did they do that burn out at Caranza? I was fairly suprised to see, it looked like a wildfire to me. The plows line destroy alot of dens, as long as the fire is done in the winter the animals will be ok. However, they burned so hard I think predation will be high and many may starve...
