    Batona Trail Re-route

I'm hiking the trail starting at the south end in a few weeks, which is the section I've done the least. Has the starting place moved from Coal Road? The last time I walked that stretch, we ended up taking the Pink Trail the wrong way through Bass River for a while, I'd like to avoid a repeat...

    South Jersey Hikes

Thanks Guy! Started my teaching career (which is an insane amount of work) and had my first kid, which really cut down on my exploring time. The kid is old enough to not get upset over car rides anymore, so we'll be heading back into the woods as it gets nice out.

    Recent Vandalism at Brooksbrae

I think it's unfair to blame Weird NJ on much of the damage in the Pine Barrens - they rarely write about South Jersey, they even more rarely write about the Pine Barrens, they never include directions to anywhere, and there are plenty of places they've never mentioned that are just as trashed...

    Batona Trail Re-route

Echoing that the new section is really nice. That roadwalk was a killer, especially when doing the whole trail. The new section might be the most interesting stretch now, but that might just be my brain thinking different is better (which it is when it takes away asphalt).

    South Jersey Hikes

Started up a new blog -South Jersey Hikes. I've never been real thrilled with any of the New Jersey hikes books I've seen, because the hikes all seem to be in North Jersey. Haven't found any websites I particularly liked either, so I started my own. http://southjerseytrails.wordpress.com/...

    Not Pine Barrens ....

Very nice. I was up there about two weeks ago canoeing on the Delaware. Didn't see any bears like that though.

    Rancocus State Park?

According to the state park website, the Indian Reservation is located within the state park (as well as a nature center run by the Audubon Society). - http://www.forevergreennj.com/C/Preserves_Birding__Wildlife_Watching/12/U/Rancocas_State_Park/68.aspx The Rankokas Indian Reservation website...

    Stargazing in BurlCo

My favorite spot is the jetti at Barnegat Light on Long Beach Island, but the field at Atsion is a heck of a lot closer.

    Another winter forecast says....

If it is going to be as cold as last winter, there might as well be alot of white stuff to go with it.

A Busy Morning in the Pines

Even drunk, you have to plan to bring something to cut the metal with, then haul it up the tower. Unless you are Chuck Norris. Then you just have to look at the tower.

    Silver Fox Inn

The sign dissapeared recently, but I think it may have just taken me a while to notice. The car is still there though.

    Signs along Highways

Guy, you have a picture of the Cooper River Branch one on Brace Road in Cherry Hill one, right (I seem to remember you taking a picture on that outing that Jerseyman led)? If not, I can send you a picture...

Remember the days of riding a Schwinn?

The bike race was the Multiple Sclerosis City-to-Shore Bike Ride. The bikers start in Cherry Hill on Saturday morning and end at Ocean City that night, going 75 miles. The next day, they turn around and go back the way they came. The Batsto stop (at the Batsto-Pleasant Mills Church) is part...
