Please do, I second that Peanut Chicken stew sounds pretty good.

Batona Trail or Batsto river Road hike?

Hey Chris L, what troop are you with? I help run 48 over in Berlin. Atsion to Quaker Bridge is very drivable, I took my old 1980s Toyota Corolla back there many times without getting stuck (there is a bad patch of sugar sand just on the other side of the bridge though). I hiked the Batona...

    Jersey Devil Hunt

Awesome. I'm going to see if any of my Scouts would interested in going in December...

    Burlington Island and Jessup's Grove

I missed this thread the first time around (and I second that the South Jersey Revolutionary War thread 1777 was one of the best threads I've ever read on here). If the bottom half of the Island is a green acres reserve (and now open for exploring), I'll have to tie up the canoe and head out...

    Weymouth Bridge Closed

What happened to the Beesely's Point Bridge? Is it ever opening up again? I'm a backroads person, and I'm not a big fan of having to get off of Rt 9 and onto the Parkway every time I'm down that way.

Searching For Rare Plants In The Great Swamp

I don't know about that Guy. The "then and now" photos might interest that company whose name eludes me with all those $20 historic photos books. I know I'd buy one.

A Busy Morning in the Pines

After Barry's video, somebody did some digging, and found an article about how one of Joseph Wharton's land managers had planted the cypruses. They are not found this far North naturally. That cut beam at the fire tower is ridiculous, I can understand dropping pumpkins from the top of the...

Anyone watching Ken Burn's America's National Parks?

Its on every night this week at 8 PM with a replay at 10 PM. Lucky. That's my plan for next summer. If I can put aside $350 a month (so far, so good) for travel expenses and paying three months worth of rent, I'm there.

Apple Pie Hill Tower Smashed Again

Eh, there have always been shady characters there, most of the time who turn out just to be bored kids from Tabernacle who check to make sure you aren't a cop and then offer you a beer. Occassionally you'll get the car with twitchy people who are obviously smoking up. From what I heard...

    Jersey Devil Encounters?

Omega, I think people respond because this topic has been done to death here, usually by post-and-run-Weird-NJesque people (not that everyone here is anti-Weird NJ, I have every issue!). While I'm not sure the best place to find people who claim to have seen the Jersey Devil (you seem to...

Anyone watching Ken Burn's America's National Parks?

I think its brilliant so far. It makes me want to hop into the car right now.

    Jerseyman's book recommendation

I'll have to dig up Washington's Crossing. I picked up an excellent book about the Revolutionary War at Fort Ticonderoga while in Vermont/New York last month: Forgotten Allies: The Oneida Indians and the American Revolution by Joseph Glatthaar and James Martin I'm no expert on the...

    Train Kills Mother, Two Children!

Old fashioned reporters must have liked exclamation points a lot. Now days, you almost never see exclamation point in regular ol' news articles. That poor family, what were the odds?

    New to the pine barrens...

Hello and good luck exploring. My starting place for exploring was the Forgotten Towns of Southern New Jersey books by Henry Charlton Beck. You can buy them at Barnes & Noble or Borders, or can usually find older editions for cheap on ebay or similar sites.

Apple Pie Hill Tower Smashed Again

It came third hand (my roommate works for the forest service), but there are supposedly gangs of thugs hanging out at the firetower pretty regularly. *sigh*

    Dead on Road Coyote

Oh man, I better not leave small children in my backyard, that's not too far off.

Wow those guys are awesome. I got thrown out of that place about ten years ago, I forgot it was there. :)

Tin foil meals! Those are a favorite. I had them recently with chicken for the first time as well, they were good (except I hate bringing chicken out camping).
