    Batona Trail Re-route

Hi Ed, Yep, no problem without boots, there is a built up bit on the left side that will take you safely by without getting wet. Mike

    Black Run Preserve

Hiked some of the trails back there on Thursday. They're doing a nice job of cleaning up the place and blazing trails. http://southjerseytrails.wordpress.com/2013/04/28/black-run-preserve-trails-evesham-nj/

    Batona Trail Re-route

I finished a day-by-day outline of how I backpacked the Batona at the beginning of the month in case anyone is interested: Day 1 - Coal Road to Buttonwood Camp - http://southjerseytrails.wordpress.com/2013/04/14/the-batona-trail-backpacking-day-1-bass-river-and-wharton-state-forests-nj/ Day 2...

    Batona Trail Re-route

The new trails are very well blazed. I also have to say that whoever fixed the trail blazing on older parts of the trail has done a real bang up job of it. I especially love the little pink arrows for spots where it's not 100% clear where the trail turns. I only missed two turns in the whole...

    Mount Korbar?

I crossed this on the Batona a few weeks ago. I googled it to see if I could find out more, which put me straight here. I should have known to come here first...

    Lake Trail?

Thanks! I'll have to try it out.

    Falling-Tree Warning

Guh, one more thing to worry about.

    Lake Trail?

Off the Batona Trail between Martha Bridge and 679 is a blue blazed trail labeled with a nice, new sign labeled as "Lake Trail". From the map, it looks like it heads toward Harrisville Lake. Anyone walk this trail yet?

If it were dark out and

Well, it was a party at Apple Pie Hill last night, I've never seen so many cars and people there at one time. If there were any northern lights, I missed them, but the stars were lovely and we had fun for two hours running the baby around in circles in the dark. Maybe next time!

If it were dark out and

I'm going to drive out to the pines tonight and see if I get lucky. Even if I don't see it, it will be an adventure.

    NJ Camping

The fee annoys the crap out of me. If you book a site for 5 people at $3 per person per person, plus the fee, that's $25 per night for a site whose ammenities are a hand pump and a pit toilet. For $25 in PA or Maryland, I can get a site with real bathrooms and a picnic table. It ticks me off...

[May 18, 2013] [CANCELED] NJPB Atsion Get-Together/Tour (Vincentown, NJ)

Guh, canoeing that weekend, we'll actually be putting it at Atsion that morning. That's a shame, the tour of the mansion with the group a few years back was really good. Have fun! I also should have assumed that this place would have a facebook group. Learn something new every day.

    Cranberry Trail - Brendan Byrne

It's not as wide as the Cranberry Trail, but it didn't seem overgrown to me. It was quite muddy the two days I was on that stretch last week.

    Batona Trail Re-route

Did the whole thing last Thursday-Sunday. The reroute by Bass River (which I hadn't done) is great. That section was kinda boring with the walks down the roads. The reroute breaks it up before you hit that long stretch on the Martha Road. Having done the whole trail at once, I had to give...

    Cranberry Trail - Brendan Byrne

In Gibbsboro? I did that a lot a few years ago when I used to babysit, as I'd take the kids there to run around instead of having them watch tv all day. Just did it last Tuesday again, they've been doing a lot of paving back there. I have to do the write up still. I can't find any maps of...

    Gabreil Daveis Tavern

That's awful. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and I hate mosquitos.

    Cranberry Trail - Brendan Byrne

Did a loop on the Cranberry Trail from the station to Pakim Pond, then came back by way of the Batona Trail. My favorite part of the Cranberry Trail was definitely the cedar swamp along the road, I always love a good cedar swamp. Overall, it was really well marked, had some nice interpretive...

    Supawna Meadows National Wildlife Refuge

I just noticed looking at that map that the Delaware/New Jersey state line is right on our coast. Didn't we win a court battle pushing it back to middle years ago?

    South Jersey Hikes

Thanks Karl, I will definately have to get down there. I love Fort Mott, my wife and I's third or forth date was there. Why did she marry me again?
