    Charcoal pit locations?

Yes, and throughout the image. I've found similar areas elsewhere that show the same thing. Not to make an argument from incredulity, but I'm aware of no geologic process in the Pines that would have produced these features. They are the right dimensions for charcoal pits and the equidistant...

    Tar Kiln Locations?

Here are two tar kilns located on Stockton University Property. The one to the left was discovered and excavated by Budd Wilson. The one to the right I was able to discover the easy way by way of the lidar imagery.

What to look for when trying to find an old watermill site

Jerseyman, I'm guessing that Chew's Landing (the landing itself) was located where the American Legion is currently situated. Can you confirm?

What to look for when trying to find an old watermill site

So good to see you post again, Jerseyman! Great info as always. Evidently, the mill dam was not in the same location as the old Floodgates Road Bridge. There does appear on Lidar what looks to be an old road or possibly a dam just a short distance upstream from the old bridge...

I could be off, of course. This is just a guess after having only had a few minutes to look at the lidar.
