ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Here is the thread on the site that Outdoorgirl posted. Yes, they are very articulate and they make sense. Those are the kinds of people who need to speak up against this.

Your Forest Under Attack: Road Closures in Wharton State Forest

Continue to speak out and let people know about what's going on. The only way this will be rolled back is by raising public awareness.

    Quarter Mile Revisited

Patting themselves on the back, you mean.

    Quarter Mile Revisited

They can call it a hike since everyone will surely be like "Why do we need to drive down this road? We should just get out and walk a few miles" like a lot of the mouth breathers on social media keep saying.

I really can't blame them for wanting to stop. Hope the PPA can muster up a lot of strong volunteers with trucks to do cleanups.

Your Forest Under Attack: Road Closures in Wharton State Forest

The amount of environmental devastation beyond that sign must be staggering.

    Quarter Mile Revisited

I wonder if there will be another Atsion cleanup after all of this road closure drama.

I think that was mostly because Christie wasn't getting the DEP to turn as much of a blind eye towards pollution (at least in North Jersey) as he would like.

I don't share your hope that this will just blow over. Once the signs are gone they'll still be able to harass, or at least ticket you, by the simple fact that the closed roads are marked on the map. Besides that, the huge issue here is that this is going on behind our backs. Zero...

Russel hasn't been with the PPA in a very long time.

Yup, saw that. Saw the same tired "get out and walk" argument used as well. We'll see how people feel when they actually try to get to their favorite hunting spot and can't.

I'm happy to see so many people speaking out against this on social media.

    Quarter Mile Revisited

What do the barriers to get in there look like? I'm assuming it's more than just a simple sign, right? Also the Park Police have been going back there a lot more, right?

    Hacking vehicles

This was really, really poor software design and engineering. Oftentimes technology evolves so fast that it gets implemented badly the first (few) times. Fortunately this is out in the limelight and hopefully this will force automakers (who are NOT technology companies) to focus on security...

No. He should be transferred to Stokes State Forest.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I met Al Horner at Barbara Solem's book signing at Batsto. I think he's a good guy, despite him chiding me for still using a film camera. (He's gone totally digital.) That being said, he's got an agenda. If you look at his Pinelands Under Siege it's full of the most inflammatory language -...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

It just kills me that they did the closings before they made the map publicly available. It also speaks volumes that the DEP, PPA, Al Horner, etc. are all silent about this. Anyway, you can pass on a message to Dave that he can contact me at bruset@njpinebarrens.com and I can get him back into...

I hate to say it but I don't disagree with you there.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Wharton might be part of the Pinelands National Reserve but I have seen no federal involvement in the funding and stewardship of the Reserve. Are they even involved anymore? Have they offered an opinion on the pipeline project? Anyway, my argument is that this was decided on with little, if...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

And by the way, just to go on record, I don't even own a vehicle capable of going into the woods. I'm upset because this is just plain wrong.
