Bing Maps vs. Google Maps imagery?

If I made things perfect then there'd be nothing to improve upon. :)

Bing Maps vs. Google Maps imagery?

What's cool is that NJPB Maps will let you toggle between the Google Map view that I have for most of the imagery and then also give you a link to open the same area in another map such as Bing. So you can have the best of both worlds.

Historic Preservation in Wharton State Forest: A Lost Cause?

For the most part I agree, although I don't think that it needs to be a binary either ecology OR history. And the industrial history of the Pinelands industries ties in with more than just New Jersey. But that industrial past would have never happened without the ecology. So, at least for me...

    Forked River Mountain Cleanup

I really wish I could. My weekend schedule is so hard having to pick up/drop off Dana.

Christie vetoes raises for Pinelands staff

Okay well I'm nipping this in the bud before it gets out of hand.

Christie vetoes raises for Pinelands staff

FWIW, Jason, you and I have similar opinions on our current leadership. Nevertheless we can discuss our feelings without taking cheap shots.

Christie vetoes raises for Pinelands staff

Folks, please don't start with the name calling. There can be intelligent discourse over this without having to go there. This isn't the NJ.com comments section.

    Heartbleed SSL Attack. Important!

Yes. And I will be setting up SSL here later this summer.

    Heartbleed SSL Attack. Important!

Well, in this case most of them are open source (subject to source code review), the data files are encrypted and live locally on your computer, and the programs themselves do not talk to the internet. You're certainly free to do what you want, but at least for me, I'm 100% comfortable with it.

    Heartbleed SSL Attack. Important!

Here's a list of major sites that have been patched. As you'd expect, all of the "big" ones have been addressed: http://www.cnet.com/how-to/which-sites-have-patched-the-heartbleed-bug/ You can also use this tool to check if a site is still vulnerable: https://lastpass.com/heartbleed/

    Heartbleed SSL Attack. Important!

Yes. Generally it's an encrypted file that sits on your computer or out in the cloud somewhere. (I used to keep mine on Dropbox before I switched to iCloud.)

    Heartbleed SSL Attack. Important!

So hopefully by now most of you folks will have heard about how SSL (the protocol used when you're signing into secure websites like your bank, Amazon, etc.) has been hacked. If you haven't, take a moment to look at this site, as well as pretty much any newspaper. Back when I set up...

Anyone have Windows 8 or 8.1?

Your brother should really consider switching to IMAP. POP is antiquated, and by default mail is not stored on the server. With IMAP all of the email is kept on the mail server, which means that he'd have access to all of that mail on any device he uses.

NJ Forest Fire Impacts 30 Acres

I think one of the things that they'd be worried about is something happening (high winds kicking up, etc.) that would get their large "under control" fire out of control. Then if it spread, started destroying property, heaven forbid taking lives, etc. people would be on the war path and since...

NJ Forest Fire Impacts 30 Acres

By the way, huge thanks to the crews that worked really hard to put the fire out. A job well done!

NJ Forest Fire Impacts 30 Acres

For some reason I thought that the fire was down closer to Washington/Maxwell. I was going to try to head down there Saturday with my camera, but I recently got rid of my truck and am not going to take a new car down to where the fire was. I wasn't expecting to regret getting rid of my truck...

NJ Forest Fire Impacts 30 Acres

I'm moving this to the general discussion area since I have a feeling that this will be a hot (no pun intended) topic of discussion.

Trying to pick a campground on Batona Trail...

So you're not walking the whole length of the trail? Well, your only campground option that is in a "walkable" distance to Batsto is Buttonwood Hill at Crowleytown. That campground has no water. In Wharton State Forest the only state campgrounds that offer any sort of facilities are Atsion and...

I don't know. They're pretty similar in size.
