    Hit and Run

Yeah. It is what it is. I just hate driving around in a vehicle that's all banged up.

    Hit and Run

I was sitting in the parking lot of the Wawa at the intersection of 539 and 70 today waiting to meet up with someone from the NJPineBarrens.com Facebook page when all of a sudden I hear a loud *thump* from the back of my truck. I see a car behind mine. I'm like "did that guy just hit me?" I...

    USAtopomaps like app for Mac

Guy or anyone else with a Mac - Do you have a native program that will take tracks recorded on a GPS and somehow overlay them on a map like USAtopomaps used to do? Preferably a Mac native program?

    The plains

I love the plains as well. My only problem is photography there. It's hard to capture the scale of the trees.

    Turkey

I haven't done much exploring out this way. I'm not really even sure where Shalks Crossing is. The name sounds familiar.

    New Forum Software

The problem is with the links in those posts. If a GPX file is not specified, the URL needs to end with a &gpx=. In the Calico Ridge thread, Jeff's link doesn't include the equals sign. In the other link it says &gpx=undefined which I don't know how/why they got that link. It looks like...

Come on, lets not ruin the thread by obsessing over what her name is.

    Found In My Back Yard

I'm pretty sure that's not a railroad spike, but it looks like it could be a rivet or some other sort of fastener along the lines of the photograph below.

A Pines settlement called "Chicken Bone"?

Cave Cabin could also easily be named after a person with the surname of Cave who owned a cabin in the area.

A Pines settlement called "Chicken Bone"?

I have never heard of any sort of settlement here, merely the that Chicken Bone is the name of that topography. Jerseyman: Is that set of Beers atlases available online? I know RU Special Collections has the 1872 Beers Atlas sheets, but they are not as detailed as the one you posted.

Atsion: Part 1 – The Charles Read Era

Many thanks to Jerseyman for his skillful help in editing this article. Also note that there will be a "for further reading" section at the conclusion of this series. Also, Scott, I hope you don't mind me grabbing your picture of Atsion lake out from the gallery for use in this article. Thanks...

LIDAR in the Pines - very cool

Interesting that I just noticed this three year old thread today. I have been kicking around with the idea of trying to update NJPB Live Maps to the Google Maps API v3 or the Bing Maps API. Throwing in the LIDAR maps once I have WMS working in the new API should be a piece of cake.

Is it ok to shoot dumpers?

I believe disposing of computer monitors legally is pretty hard and/or expensive because of the toxicity of the materials. I remember helping my friend's dad move his warehouse full of computer parts and he had to get a special dumpster to dispose of old CRTs.
