The Pine Barrens: The Past, the Politics & the Future Mar. 3, 2 p.m.

I saw him give a graduation speech at my high school and he forgot the name of the school we were at.

I almost went myself, since I work at Princeton. McCosh Hall is also where they do a lot of the freshman survey courses, hence the size of the room. They have the old, uncomfortable seats there to keep it historic.

    NJPB Image Gallery

Just a heads up, the Image Gallery here is no longer accepting new uploads. In the future I will be investigating a replacement for it, but probably not for user uploads. I still think your best bet is to use Flickr, Picasa, Imgur, or attach your images to posts here.

    Turkey

The other day I saw a single turkey cross Alexander Rd. in Princeton and start to walk into a field that had to have ~200 Canada geese in it. For every step the turkey made into the field the geese retreated farther into the field. So weird to see so many geese afraid of a single turkey.

Yeah, I went right after the first snowfall we had, and it was fairly late in the afternoon. It was nice to have the place to myself.

    Monmouth Battlefield

The story of the Battle of Monmouth and the history of the battlefield is really interesting. It's pretty complicated, which is why I haven't sat down to write about it.

    Mac OS X Crashing

I don't know if I ever have had to go into my home/library folder, but when I deal with moving/copying files I just do it all in Terminal. I come from a UNIX/Linux background and see the Mac as a good UNIX workstation more than anything else.

Nice shots, boys! I've been photographing in Monmouth County a lot. I ought to get back to the Pines soon.

    Facebook Too Big?

I probably reach more people on the NJPineBarrens.com Facebook page than I do on the site itself. Facebook may eventually implode and go away (just like Myspace did) but I think the writing is sort of on the wall for standalone websites like this one.
