    Pine Barren Tree Frog Hunt

Chile, I am almost certain that I heard PBTFs. The call I heard sounded exactly like the frog in your first video and several other videos I have found. I have never heard the PBTFs calling so early in the day and thought that I may have had the call confused with another species.

    Pine Barren Tree Frog Hunt

Thanks Manu! It definitely was warm and humid on the days I heard them. I made attempt to zero in on their location, at Stafford Forge, but they where high up in a patch of cedars and I was unable to view them. They where positioned several feet above me, which I would say was close to eight or...

    Pine Barren Tree Frog Hunt

There isn't another species of frog in the pines that produces a call that sounds similar to the "wonka-wonka-wonka" call of the PB tree frog is there? I have heard that call midday in Stafford Forge and in Parker Preserve in the past few weeks. It wasn't a single call but a small chorus both...

I wouldn't mind relaxing in one of the rocking chairs on the porch. I would lazily watch the grass grow.

    The Osprey Whisperer

Tgeorge, I would have to say that gloves, especially padded shoulder length gloves, are important when handling birds of prey. A pair of long gloves, is the first thing the staffer grabbed as he headed out to retrieve the hawk from my truck. The bird had a bad disposition and I had enough by...

    Pollen in Bamber

Bob, hopefully the showers we are supposed to get in the next few days will wash the pollen down and away. Is all of this added pollen bothering your dog? I used to have to give my Golden Retriever children's Benadryl when the season was like it is today. The poor dog would suffer with runny...

    Hiking Greenwood Forest WMA?

Yeah, JD, I have come across the reservation and its caretakers in past. I don't now what to make of the place, but the fellow that spoke with us seemed to be a decent person. Reservation is loosely appropriate, but I won't expect to see a casino.:p

    Pollen in Bamber

Bobpbx, where you doing remodeling on your home and sanding sheetrock?:D Incredible! The power of suggestion - My nose started itching the moment I viewed your photograph. Is that mess from one day?

    Possible chigger bite remedy

Steve, you may have encountered juvenile ticks. They leave an irritating small blister-like mark that may itch for several days. At least that is my body's reaction to their bite and for me, it is almost like a chigger bite.

    Hiking Greenwood Forest WMA?

Teegate, pointed out to me that even though you may not be able to speak to someone, you may still be able to text even though there is no signal. I have climbed trees several times to get a better signal in several of the "remote" places or as I call them the black holes. Most of the time I...

    The Osprey Whisperer

I wasn't going to tell the story. I am a bit tired at the moment , so the tale may be long winded, but please enjoy it. I had a few free hours last Sunday, so I decided explore an area along the Rancocas looking for orchids in bloom or emerging. I just happened to stoop down to get under an...

    Hiking Greenwood Forest WMA?

Great advice from everyone! Chili, you have to get used to the feeling of being in the middle of no-where and having no trail to follow, but once you get comfortable with that you will discover the hidden treasures that are still in the Pines. It took me a few times until I was comfortable but...

    The Osprey Whisperer

Teegate, I didn't even think to ask about updates on the bird, but they did ask for my email address. They will be releasing the hawk at the same location that I found it. I left the coordinates on the sheet I had to fill out when I dropped him off at Waterford Cedar Run. I don't think that the...

    The Osprey Whisperer

Bobpbx, the pecking isn't too bad, just stay clear of the talons. I got nailed by a Red-tailed last Sunday while handling the raptor during a rescue and he put a nice hole in my hand. It was his show of gratitude!

    pickerel fishing

Woodjin, is that a beaver lodge, in the distance, in your second picture? It must have been nice to take advantage of this terrific weather and steal away a morning of fishing.

    How much would it take....

I climbed almost half of the antenna by Quakerbridge Mall when I was seventeen. I had my climbing harness on with a set of lobster claws though. The climb down was just as tiring as the climb up! It is the antenna that can be seen from the 95 and Route 1 intersection. You could get away with...
