My picnic table. It is insane here in Bamber.

    Et tu, Corzine?

I defended the governor on this site when he was first elected. I now dutifully stand up and hereby affirm that I was wrong. I soften that a bit; I was duped. He was not bold enough in his decisions and he had no real vision to get us out of this mess we are in. I am not sorry to see him go...

Oyster Creek Power Plant cooling tower

C'mon 46er, you know better than that. I've lived in Lacey 27 years, and there have been numerous fish kills..."The average annual impingement loss ranges from 13,000 winter flounder to eight million sand shrimp". You should read this: Source...

    strangeness in a cedar swamp

I don't know Chris. That is nice graphic work you did there, but I agree with Mike; that is a strange looking creature and this whole story frankly gives me the willies. I think he has something really unique there....a creature that cannot readily be explained.

    You Tell Me

Thanks Guys. That is a funny story Jeff. I found it using Bing and I had to ask myself; how in the world did they ever think to build a complex on top of wetlands like that?...or....did they bring the water to the complex, because I don't see any stream coming in or going out. I did not...

    Oldest House in the Pines?

I believe that was mentioned in Beck. I used to live in Presidential Lakes, and I was told it was near where the swimming beach is today. I moved there in 1966.

    Some Info

I consider that a real bummer that it is in private hands Guy. If they were to flood that area again for farming, we'd lose thousands of that Xryis species I showed you.

Good! I'm glad to see you have this interest. It is a very challenging hobby.

    PBC Event: Chaffseed

That is very good news Allen. You don't have to reveal any locations of course, but if he reveals that he did establish it elsewhere, I'd like to know the number of locations.

    Marsh Hawk

I think there is just some confusion here Pancoast. The later posters are not identifying the photo they are referring to. To clear up confusion: Post #1: Accipitor cooperii (Cooper's Hawk). Post #9, 10, and 12: Buteo jamaicensis (Red Tail Hawk).

You could use both, its up to you. Or, change the name to something else entirely.

Figures 118 and 119? You have a point Al. But, then too, there seems to have been no tall trees in those photos at all, and the hill on the northeast side (where maybe the photo was taken) rises very slowly. If you look at Atlas 13 in the topos on this site, the pond isn't even there. I...

    Flower ID

It's likely not what you think it is Tom, but you'll enjoy the historical aspect. You'll get a kick out some of the photos and the places he mentions though, so its good to have in your collection. But he "usually" only uses latin names and most of it deals with more of an environmental study of...

I viewed your photos Allen. You have a keen attention to detail and I can tell you love the pines. You see a lot of the same things I do out there.

Tell Allen I said Hi. What's his screen name? Yes, there are 3 spots here in Ocean County with P. Lacera. Dover Forge is one.

That is very interesting Tom. I didn't even know about that plant at all. Not at all. You are to be commended for figuring it out without even a flower.

    Marsh Hawk

I am going to say a Red Tail too (Buteo jamaicensis), and here is why. Below the distinguishing white portion of the breast is the streaked bands of the belly. The color I think you are referring too is actually the throat, which is another marker of the red tail. If you can magnify your...

    Is Hanson clearing the tracks?

Guy, the only stretch I see where that would happen is close to some seniors in Whiting. I don't see it as too much of a nuiscance and Mart is right about the trucks, which are a huge pain in the butt. It would be cool to run a Sunday Brunch car down to Woodmansie and back with a little...
